Stopped off at the bar driving home from a local show a couple of weeks ago. I had a great time at the show, was having a great time driving, and I had a great time at the bar! No, I didn't get hammered. Just one small round of Maker's Mark. Nothing like a coolish evening, a smooth running flatty and a cowl vent to keep the fresh air moving. Henry did good with this one!

  2. I've always liked this one! I even had the head rest of my creeper covered to mimic the interior.

Hey Kelly Burns, search out the San Diego Prowlers, one of them may still know of its whereabouts. Lee and his son have both been gone for years, but someone may know.

Stratkatkustoms, would enjoy the story with that 40! Looks right out of the 60’s!

  24. @dln1949 sounds like a guy named Roger, who owns an electric shop across from a muffler shop may own it?

Well, haven't seen that custom sedan delivery for quite some time... The old photo looks as if it needs some touch up and care.

Lee Bright from the San Diego Prowlers was a giant bear of a guy. His presence was well known in and around hot rods. But, to meet him in person was a little intimidating. His presence fills up a shop. Even at a green, wide open park photo shoot, he was a big guy that was one of the nicest people we had ever met.

My wife liked him and his hot rod builds. She said that either one or both would look nice in our own two car garage. Both of his builds we knew of, a Model A Sedan Delivery and the 40 Ford Sedan Delivery were immaculate.

    Hello,

The second (Yellow) Ford Sedan Delivery built by San Diego Prowlers member, Lee Bright was one of the best built hot rods that had, what everyone at the time, desired in any build. The whole thing qualified for a business tax write off as the name of his muffler shop was amply named, Lee Bright’s Muffler Shop. Since it was not a removable sign, it met the tax law requirement.

After taking photos of what we thought was the best example of a chopped Model A Sedan Delivery for another magazine photo spread, Lee built this version with a few more intricate additions. The most unusual was underneath the rear compartment. These extra details made this Yellow bullet shaped sedan delivery, cool as cool can get in hot rods.

ground level photo on a timer…

A well-built, louvered belly pan on a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery, not something one sees every day.

It was cool looking from the front and definitely cool from the rear...

"Who does not like a nice rear end?"

@jnaki Thanks you for the background info. You can tell it was a nice build just by the stance. Seeing chrome wires on Hot Rods brings back kool memories when I started going to car shows. Chrome wires was the Kats meow....

  29. @jnaki thank you for the Lee Bright information. I would love to find out where it is today and any more information on it!
