I'm surprised there aren't more white 40's, the right shade looks fantastic.
This early shot gets me frothing!

Some more 40 shots--working on the Maroon one for a friend- I did the wiring, front sheet metal fit , dash install, door/decklid fit and lots of little stuff tweaking things here and there as needed and detail/fit/finish work--it is off for paint work Friday and final cut and buff then back here in a couple of weeks for the finish-can post a couple of pics when completed if interested-color is a Mercedes maroon.--have the code here-non-metallic.

 

Damn but that's a great color on a forty - one of the best!

Many times I have wondered if this was the same Jim Head that raced T/F in the seventies and F/C in the eighties. Anyone know?

this says back to the 60s for me. I had just graduated HS in '60 and there was a coupe like this in the valley that really did it for me. 283" Chevy with stock '40 driveline was the way it was back then. Look close I think that is a Sun tach on the dash, probably a sender on the firewall. Chrome reverse from Honest Charley perhaps.
