Last year the show@AMS had a special slot for '40 Fords, and there were a ton of them there, including mine. But it rained Sat. and Sun, and the crowd was aalmost none except for the exhibitors and vendors.

Sweet! Such a great looking convertible 50Fraud! The lines of the top are right on, imho.

Well a gorgeous day here in NH. Washed the '40 and went to my daughters new lake house. Spin on the new pontoon boat around the lake and a bbq lunch on the dock. Hell it is heaven for an old guy to have a daughter, and great son in law, that have bought a house on a large mouth bass lake and handed a spare key to the place to me and the missus! You wanna find me this summer, it will be at a cruise night or here.

what did you use to mock up the top? Masking paper? I agree, that top looks killer.

I have been looking at a lot of '39 tops, functional ones are hard to get right, a lot of them look pretty frumpy. I think this is probably the best working top I have seen on a '39 so far.

It looks like the rear bow is tilted towards the front of the car, and chopped more than the windshield.

I agree flacongeorge it is great looking top. I hope to match that profile when I put a new top on my 39 someday. For those of you that want to see more of this car click on the site below and watch it being built by Steve's Auto Restorations in Portland. They have some really skilled craftsmen there that turn out some excellent cars.

Awesome, thanks for the link, I was looking for that album on their website and couldn't find it. Its really easy to screw up the top on a chopped '39 convert, there are more bad ones out there than good.

Three rolls of masking tape! Thanks for the kind words. The sag between the bows will be corrected with aluminum sheeting before the covering is added.

It's a good looking top and a great car.

Funny! I was looking at the lines on the back and was thinking it was masking tape, but said to myself "cant be, that would take HOURS!" Its gonna look good. IMO, the right top makes these cars. I am A-ok with the slight sags between the bows,

Not the first time I have seen your truck, but it is a real looker. Nice! I especially like the colour, the wheelcovers really work too.

man, I saved 130 plus photos of the top, its construction and the window frames from that link in my "39 convert" file. That is just going to be a HUGE help. Thanks again Sam, you REALLY helped me out there!
One more angle on the top, YEA BABY! lookin' good!

I took this picture last week while visiting my friend Mike Behrendts. It's a picture of a paper article from 1964 talking about his 40 4 door with an Olds Rocket engine. I think he was a senior in HS at the time. He still has some goodies off of this car but I don't remember what he told me about where the car is now. He's been at it awhile! mikehssmall.jpg

A shot that @cory27t shot of my beater at the start of the 2016 SWMO Hot Rod Hundred, and one during our half way stop at Hotshoe Hot Rods, in Mount Vernon.

Oh, and yeah, @D.Conrad already pointed out that I have my bumper guards on upside down, but I've ground the "bottoms" too much to flip them now. LOL

We had a little NSRA inspection day today. Friend Vic Day brought his 40 out for the occasion so I decided it was a perfect photo opportunity for this thread. so here are some pictures.

Oh... and like our honorable OP of this thread I just had to throw in a little selfy. My buddy Jeff was nice enough to drive my convertible out to the inspection site today. It is kind of fun to see the convertible being driven by someone else. I threatened to install a throttle stop on the convertible but it wasn't needed as he drove it very gently.
