Got my coupe back today, now I have flames on the brain (what little I have left). Started raining just after I got it into the garage so pictures (and new avatar) tomorrow. tumblr_nn199zzBfr1sj2ib8o1_400.jpg

The coupe is as cool as ice cream. I'd like to know about your suspension set-up, especially the front. did you have to change the front wheel off sets to allow for turning. I hope that is a static drop!

Thanks! It's a static drop. The front is running narrowed nova subframe with fatman narrow control arms and an ECI narrow trak disc brake setup. In the rear I'm running parallel leafs with 1.5" blocks and an 1.5" c notch. It rides and drives great with the clearance to turn lock to lock, just need to look out for driveways and speed bumps! ( 3" of ground clearance at bottom of the grille chin) and the front wheels are 15x5's with 3" of backspacing.

That took a lot of 'cyphering to spec that job out! Was it hit and miss, or did you nail it first time? The coupe is spectacular, and I love those Mercury caps!

Thank you! It took a bit of adjusting and wasn't correct right away, but had to keep going to get it drive well and still keep the stance l was shooting for.

So here is the coupe today, high 70s sunny and I am one happy camper! And yeah, I may be forced to get the dreaded NH street rod plate to clean up the ftont end (only one rear plate with them).

I'll be needing a set of those after I get the big Merc installed. Are those being reproduced?

One of the very few photos I took at the Pete & Jakes open house.

Right to left, Lonny Moore's '40 standard sedan, Lonny Moore's '40 pickup, Roger Ward's '40 standard sedan, @roadsterpilot '40 Deluxe MorDor, and my '40 stake truck.

  19. .......Yes, mine are reproductions. They were made by Vintiques and sold through C.W. Moss.

I a,m not a big fan of flames on 40's , OLCURMDGEON, [sorry Bret and Lynn] but those look pretty darn good.

  21. LOL I totally understand. I REALLY like that flame layout. I went with a process blue pinstripe outline, but I also really like white for that, too.

There was even some sexy pin-up models at Pete & Jakes. @Tim thought he was one of them.

yeah Don, maybe one of the Aussie HAMB'rs will chime in on whether that is custom or factory. Don't see many '40 Utes and they are a lovely piece of design. Way back in my memory banks I remember an early Street Rodder picture of John Mazmanian's house in CA with multiple garages in a semi-circle attached to the house. He had hot rod versions of most of the '32 Ford product line as I recall. Makes me daydream of hitting the lottery and doing the same for '40s, US and Aussie production. A Ute and a woody would be the first additions I would make.

Maybe 38 standard hood side vents on the Ute??? I would love to have either one of those Utes.
