  1. Seeing that missing tooth pic reminds me of when my chop saw kicked a block of wood out, and the wife got her wish. married to a gap tooth moron... that's me now:)
not three months later, I ran my palm through my table saw. 32 stitches.
    I quit woodworking.
    sticking to cars.

I watched my son rip a brand new roll up after i warned him not to drive the load with the forks up. The load, my engine after pulling it from car. It was a new door, had begged the Boss for this new door. Man was i Pissed that day. Yes i still work there.

18 Y/O Dumbass. On a sunday i talked the boss into letting me use his shop to pull a 440/727 combo outta a 70 new yorker nice fresh rebuilt mo-mo. got 'er up on proper stands. unbolted a buncha crap. decided it'd be easier to torch the headpipes instead of unbolting them. too bad i'd cut the fuel line earlier in the day!! laying on my back with cutting goggles on, heard a funny noise! rolled out and sum-bitch!!! the BIG puddle of gas was afire! used every fire extinguisher in the shop to put it out! this was in a tire shop too, plenty of fuel for the fire. i got most of the mess cleaned-up, but there was no denying what happened come monday morning. he didn't fire me though. just made me pay for re-filling the fire extinguishers.

Speaking of incadescent bulb metal trouble lights....
    http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2009/01/fire_destroys_auto_repair_shop.html

My buddy Larry Flynn was pulling an "empty" (according to the owner) gas tank out of a Ford pickup and when he dropped the second strap surprise was that the tank was not empty; it was almost full. The trouble light was lying on the floor under the tank and as it lurched down onto Larry's shoulder full of gas, the filler neck was lower than the level of the tank and gas started streaming out...right onto the trouble light.

Amazingly, Larry only lost his eyebrows and had to throw is pants away (not from fire) but the shop was burned to the ground. 100% loss. It's now just over two years since that accident and he's still not back on his feet financially. Make sure your insurance is up to date because shit DOES happen.

I've had my share of little things like we all do, too many close calls.. I figure one of these days it will get closer. A chainsaw that ripped my pants and scratched my knee cap, ran a nuckle over a tabelsaw just skimming it, have had steel slivers drilled out of my eye after they started to rust (twice), Wear saftey glasses now! Cant count the number of times a grinder has skimmed off skin.
But after seeing that guy and the big lathe accident I realize just how lucky I've been..
Was outside rebuilding a Buffalo Drill Press #15 from the 40's tonight and that accident was still on my mind. It looks lilke it's been through hell, was painted black and red, the footplate was broken in half, the drill shaft had broken teeth... Cleaning it up I see a Bath Iron Works tag... #666 ..that thing bites me once it's goint to scrap!

Ever lit your mullet while welding under your minitruck?
Grinding on a frame when the grinder grabs hold of my sweatshirt and crawles up my arm...still got the racing stripe from that one.

PULLING real hard on that breaker bar for that stubborn nut....what do you think happened?

At the welding shop back in the day, he is cutting some threded rod with a torch, it starts to drop, I instinctively grab it. Threads burned into my palm. He looks at me as says "bet you won't do that again".....he was wrong.

I have kicked my own ass after wandering into a nest of yellow jackets. Strip down to tighties at friend's back door because they are all wrapped up in my jeans and shirt. Ended up with 27 stings, my friend's dad drives me home in his bathrobe.

Had a little food poisoning Saturday morning about 4 a.m.. Went to kitchen to get Tums...gut clamped down, one fart, ran for bathroom......didn't quite make it. Wife laughed at me after I cleaned up and smell went away.

I deleted some pretty gnarly links. If it pertains to safety that's one thing but we don't need a gore-fest.
