The website fund me thing is weird to me. Can you click thru there and just make a PayPal gift?

Edit: Come to think of it, why not just some PayPal address? I woulda sent it already.

Yeah that go fund me site is weird. I got stung by their “Tip” feature. I didn’t know how it works as I plowed on through and in the end it defaulted to a 17.5% tip for them on top of your donation. Way more than I would have given them had I realized how it worked. Live n learn.

  21. I got permission from Brian to share this. These are his words and the current reality of the situation. If we can jump start this thing again let’s see if we can spread it around some more. If you do social media it would very much help spreading the word beyond just here on the HAMB.

Right plan. Wrong timeline. Wrong conditions.

My plan all along was to slowly build up my own business, while maintaining an engineering position to cover the costs of shop rent, and equipment acquisition.

The reasoning behind this was to not take out a loan or any other line of credit. I wanted to own my entire operation outright (save for the property). That way, when I could no longer work as an engineer, I could simply slide into working my own business.

    I was almost there.

With the then loss of my high-paying engineering job, and the now loss of my subsequent low-paying engineering job, this plan has fallen apart.

It is looking evermore like I have been ***igned early retirement.

To make matters worse, I am still paying off the legal expenses from trying to sue the person that ran me over, and left me disabled.

I have been fundraising, but that has stalled out at about a third of what I owe. Thanks to everyone who helped so far.

My wages were attached to pay this off, but that is no more, as are my wages are also no more. It remains to be seen which of the possible outcomes I will be ***igned to pay the rest back. There have already been threats of forcing me to liquidate all of my remaining property.

I have been looking for another engineering job for 6-years. No takers. Mostly no interviews, at all. With the advent of AI, the focus has shifted away from anything hardware related. Almost all of the physical technology engineers that I know are now out of work. Heck, almost everyone I know that is my age that worked in high tech is out of work.

I have a shop. I have tools (enough to get by, for now). I have skills. I have customers. I am just breaking even, with sometimes minutes to spare. I can grow this.

None of that is the problem.

I owe $53,364.00 to people that have the ability to get a court order forcing me to pay.

If I am put on a payment plan, with no engineering job, I will lose the shop.

If I am ordered to liquidate my ***ets, that is the shop, lost.

No bank or other lending ins***ution is remotely interested in hearing my small story.

I cannot do anything but push forward at the shop.

I am acutely aware that I could lose it all at any moment.

It would be different if this was a failing on my part.

I am in debt because a drug addict ran me over, a total of three times, randomly, while I was riding my bicycle home (IN THE BIKE LANE!).

There is nothing to sue for. The police cannot be bothered to refer this case for prosecution, and that would not get me anything even if they did. The victims compensation fund considers me to have been compensated already, because there was a small insurance policy payout. The lawyers and health care providers took all of it.

The damage to my body from that is permanent, and it interfering with my work, too. I am forcing my way through the pain, and memory issues.

None of that matters. Life's a gamble, I got delt a two and seven.

It feels like I am waiting to be executed. It is really hard to get up every day and push forward.

    Man, what an awful situation.
We tend to have this idea that if we get damaged by someone, even if that person can't or won't make us whole, that "the system" will take care of us.
    The reality is disheartening.
