What is this thing, to me it looks like some sort of reamer, it has 3 blades that at some point seem to have been really sharp. I acts like a ratchet, the three blade only rotate counter clock wise. (big extractor???)
    16" long and 9.5" tall.
Made by Mueller, Patented June 21, 1898.
This is part of a huge collection, from when I bought a building that was a machine shop.
Anybody know? Looks like a mid-evil torture device.

You use it to remove the rough edges out of the inside of cut pipe.

Its a Reamer or deburrer for conduit.

  13. Did anyone think it is a reamer? Looks like a reamer for wooden barrels, for a taper for a cork.

It's for cutting the tapered "Bung Hole" in wood barrels.
The hole would be drilled through with a brace and bit,
then this tool cuts the taper.

I doubt they had conduit in 1898,
and the angle is wrong for deburring pipe.

fine, whatever suits you, but be warned, bunghole leakage may occur if you don't properly ream out your bunghole before use.

IT's for installing rubber assholes in wooden hobby horses. Geeeeeeeeez.

  27. Maybe you could do a patent search based on the date it was patented? It sure looks like a reamer of some sort. Probably the angle the blades are beveled at would give you a clue to whether it was meant to ream metal or wood.

If you listen to it closely, maybe it will announce:

"I am Cornholio... bunghole bunghole BUNGHOLE"
