Metalshapes, I agree wholeheartedly. Hollywood has nothing new to give us, so we all suck down mountains of bullshit. Fuck remakes, so what if a film isn't "perfect" for you when you watch it. Did you make it? Is it your vision?

Would you appreciate it if your car(s) were criticized that way?

Deep breathes, exhale slowly... you're gonna be alright. Goofy stuff like this comes up all the time, don't get excited. Look up the dryer sheet thread if you don't believe me. :D

If they can't cast the original 55, probably should try & get Shakey Puddin to audition:D.

It should have been remade before it was ever brought to the screen the first time, or at least finished.

I didn't LOVE the movie. I enjoyed it for the most part, a lot of one-liners that only other people who have seen it enough to remember realize. To me, the movie could care less if anyone likes it. It's more of a documentary of sorts.

Nowadays, movies are made to make money. This movie wouldn't make any money.

If anyone is into it, check this site out: http://lakelandraceway.com/two-lane_blacktop.htm

GTO; George Barris, Boyd Coddington, Donald Trump, or Craig Jackson (of Barrett-Jackson). A few of the biggest stuffed shirt Bullshitters that came to mind.
The Driver; James Hetfield (of Metallica-w/long hair)
The Mechanic; Josh Holloway (The dude that plays "Sawyer" on "LOST")
    The Girl; Paris Hilton!

  21. Damn restoration guys... oh wait, we're talking about a movie. Honestly remaking this movie wouldn't bother me any, other than some nice scenes of guys putting cars through their paces, there's not much to ruin.

If you're going to cast William Shatner as the '55 driver, what are you going to do, replace the GTO with a Rivera and put Leonard Nimoy in it?

I say have Quagmire and Joe in the '55, the daughter from American Dad as the girl, and Peter Griffin as the GTO guy.

Actually I goofed up when I posted this - should have been Brian the dog as the driver, Stewie with him in the '55, and we'll just call it "Road To Nowhere" and throw in a dance number along the way. Maybe with the gay cowboy. It can't be worse than what MacFarlane had them do for the 150th show -

Have the movie and cannot see it being redone.
If it was it would be all CGI effects with cars been blown up and crappy stunts.

Any remake of that boring movie would be an improvement.

The main problem would be that the new PC hollywood would insist that the Driver and Mechanic have a higher purpose. They are racing across country to save a starving child or to bring peace to the world or maybe save their former cub scout den mother from being evicted from her home. Something sappy like that .

Compare the scripts of the original Gone in 60 Seconds to the remake and you'll see what I mean.

If you want the same wooden performances, just cast Nic Cage in all the roles.

Oh yeah, don't forget that all the cool cars will be replaced with modern versions. Thats where the shameful recasting will happen.

I agree with the shameful recasting thought, truely that is the problem with modern Hollyweird.

But it doesn't take the fun out of the idea. I'm so bad with the new celeb's names I can't be much help. I'll try though...

    driver: Hugh Jackman (wolverine?)

    mechanic: Christian Bale

    girl: Sarah Silverman

    GTO: Ian McShane

Fill in the rest of the cast with cameos from bigger name actors. Keep it moody and dark with the only action the natural performance of the cars. Since it's a new/remake, use a newer GTO so McShane thinks he's got something. I wouldn't oppose a 60's Camaro or Chevelle done up in the current "street legal" race garb. It probably wouldn't make sense to use a 55 and a 70 GTO in a re-make.

  27. Drew Carey as the hitchhiker going to Amarillo....
Kenney Chesney as that gay cowboy in Oklahoma, lol

Chris would have to be GTO or else having Mr Herbert play the cowboy in that "awkard" scene wouldn't make sense. Or Stewie could play the cowboy.
