I'm in Wichita, Ks. Looks like Hamburg, Iowa isnt too far from the Ks. border. I've got my beater big block longbed Chevy I could drive up there, and help out with, but at 7 mpg, It would certainly cost more than I have in my pocket to get there.

I imagine there are people that are closer that could help out for cheaper, and be quicker. You can count me in if I am needed though, and you get more offers for funds, then trucks.

Hamburg Iowa Has a population of around 1100 people..thats a lot of displaced people, and a lot of fucked up property.

    any other HAMBers in Hamburg?

Strange how you dont see much reporting about this from the Main Stream Media.

if you were a bit out of touch, and a distance away, you wouldnt even know this is happining..probably part of the plan

  11. No, the Corps and the State Governments are just telling folks to get out.

W/O getting political these towns were there BEFORE the Corps and the Dams/levees and weathered flooding many times. But, now there are 5 huge Dams upriver in SD and ND that NEED to have pressure let off them. The victims are the people downstream. Thank the Corps

I am an hour and a half away from Hamburg, p.m. me when to be there, I can store a little too.

  13. We'll keep you in the loop.

Someone once said, " Ohhhmmm I get by with a little help from my friends . . ." Then he stepped off the stage and drank my wine, made me feel good to know there was someone a little farther out there than me. :D

A strong back is as good as a truck.

You're welcome to ride along with me if you want. Once i get together with the fellas from omaha and get a plan I'll post it.

Still haven't got a way to handle funds. Might have to figure a way to get it to Joe and let him doles it out when we get there. I've got a couple of PMs off to him but I thuink he is busy out trying to make this thing work on his won. He'll check in soon no doubt.

If I remember from the other post that started this he doesn't even have a place to live, everything is rented out already. Joe, will you still have a job? Do you need a place to live close by or are you looking to relocated to another state and find another job? I've got room here at the house for you and your family if in fact you want to live here in the Metro Detroit area. Job market isn't the greatest. I have no room for storage of anything BUT there are lots of those places around here for rent.

Beeno, You know I'm too far to help physically, but you had better PM me and let me know where to send some gas and food money if you need it. It would be an honor to buy some folks like you some burgers. You are a good man!

Wish i was closer. I have access to trucks, trailers and people just not the time to take off work to make the trip.

  25. If you have flood insurance it should be covered. But if you are not living in a flood plane it is not likely that you will have flood insurance.

So much for the politics of the whole thing.

Here you got it fellas if you want to make a contribution send it to exderelict and earmark it for joecool.

I'll be on the horn with exderlict this evening. I missed his call out mowing. Anyway we'll have a schedual by tomorrow and it will be posted for all those who can make the trip.

I'm out for the evening, please give us a bump if you think about it.

  26. let's bump this for the evening crowd.

Someone better call Joe if you have his number he doesn't know we are comming yet, I don't think he's been on line.

Looks like we are setting up for Sunday. I can be there 'til Tuesday if that's what it takes.

I'll quote our news paper, the Omaha World Herald."HELICOPTERS:Black Hawk helicopters worked Wednesday to build up a dike to protect the Dakota Dunes,S.D.,golf course and housing area. The copters hauled in huge bags of sand being used to raise a dike protecting the area." Someone has their priorities set.

In no way am I defending the Corps for this action, but in all this where is the Iowa National Guard ? Are they helping people in any way ? What about FEMA and your state emergency management organizations?
