Besides all my other vices (interests) I own a few microcars, specifically Messerschmitt KR’s, KR is an abbreviation for kabinenroller. ( pronounced: ka- been- N- roller) So now you know the rest of the story.

I started painting cars before gettin a drivers license. Learned great techniques from one of my Uncles. When painting with enamel the first coat is fogged on to basically act as a foundation for the next coats. My friends starting calling me the fogger. I got stuck with the nickname. Since I'm 80 now there are only a couple of old friends left that remember the nickname. The last car I painted was my 3W back in '99 with acrylic black lacquer. It will be my last because I'm not going to spray the catalyzed paint now available.

Mine is from my old email, which is from a Siamese cat I inherited from a girl many years ago. The cat was named after her parents' boat, which in turn was named after a party game from the '20s and '30s where people would scoot around on all fours and push a bean around with their noses.

Perhaps also the result of too many tacos? :) Actually, Too Many Tacos would be a good name for a band.

"Baumi" was my grandpa Xaver Baumgartner´s nickname when he was a POW after WW2. When I went to elementary school one of my teachers was an old friend and probably comrade of my gramp´s, and he was also kind of lazy. My real name is Christoph Baumgartner, but that was too long for him, so he called me Baumi, and sometimes Bamboo...there was a time when even my parents called me Baumi.

My oldest brother ordered a 1970 Plymouth GTX, 440 4 barrel, 4 speed and the 3.54 Dana 60. It was Lemontwist Yellow when he got out of the Army in late '69. I loved that car, it made me a Mopar guy. So the name lemondana comes from Lemon Twist yellow and the Dana 60. Kind of complicated I guess. I apoligize for the OT avatar. I figure old cop cars fit into everywhere. I don't have pictures of my 38 Plymouth on my phone or computer, because it's buried. As soon as I get my knees replaced, I'll unbury it and get back on it.

Sandcrab was what they called a molder in the foundry. He scuttled backwards on the foundry floor ramming molds from the heap of conditioned sand behind him. I used it as a handle when I joined a foundy site that is now gone.

Didn't have my Mercury when I joined, couldn't use my handle from every other forum (off topic car), so I went with the two Cadillacs from the stable. (And my name is Lucas Johnson if anybody gives a shit what my real name is. Which I doubt, which is one reason I don't just go by it on forums.)

Thought about changing my screen name as I no longer chase parts but figured if I did nobody would recognize me.
Heyyyyyy wait a minute... not sure that would be a bad thing.

    Real simple and real easy.

First name, last initial. In the early days of the HAMB you could do that.

  14. The HAMB was the 1st online anything I had ever done. I didn't fully understand the what a user even was. I have Lead-Sled tattooed on my wrist. So I looked down at my wrist and went with that. My joined date says April 2001, but I think it was sooner.

What's funny is latter I continued to use it as a user name in other places. I'm finally building a Hot Rod after all these years, but I'll keep my name.

I am the caretaker of my dad's custom 1936 Ford Cabriolet. I went with 36cab as I was too lazy to write out cabriolet when I signed up.

Don't you mean the WITT-LESS protection program?

I was under the assumption we were supposed to use a moniker of some sort when I signed up. I may have told this story here before, but here goes: The pic used for my avatar is a '62 Fender Esquire, and it has only 1 pickup, as opposed to 2 on a Telecaster. A friend of mine was moving and his GF had this stashed away in a closet for MANY years. She pulled it out, plugged it in, and broke a string. She asked my buddy Paul to throw it on the burn pile. He knew I played a little, so he asked me if I wanted it. I didn't know that it was worth A LOT at that time, so we agreed on $50 for the guitar with the original tweed case & the same year Princeton amp. Best purchase I ever made. It's worth enough that I don't play it anymore. Plus, in my current band (smokinmeerkats.com) I only play acoustic guitar, mandolin & harmonica. For those of you who don't already know, I am: David Hall.

My nickname is Vern or Verno, and my first Hot Rod was the 30 Model A I built.

My avatar was Shiva, a neurotic little mess of a mutt, but I loved her dearly and we had a great time. She finally passed from diabetes and kidney failure, but lived a great and spoiled life. Also, I was a bit of a Literary nerd when I was younger and Shiva is the Hindu god of death, so being Shivasdad was pretty neat.

Kind of fun reading the storys.
I only gave a passing thought to not using my own name.; Should I use my Art name or nick name,or even a new made up thing? Nope,my own was OK,an there were some here from other sites, that knew me already, anyhow.
Avatar,ya,that guy"Aaaa",<Well they did copy some one like me from times passed, before Happy Days was ever made; I liked the show.

  21. Back years ago, Kmarts use to dot the landscape like Starbucks and Dominos do now. Each cash register had a sticker on it with big red letters that cryptically said "TYFSAK". It was meant as a reminder for the cashiers to say "Thank You For Shopping At Kmart" as every customer checked out.

Years later I worked at a dealership parts counter where one of the line mechanics began referring to me as ClayMart, combining my first name into the Kmart name. Soon after that I began adding "Thanks For Shopping At ClayMart" to all my parts invoices. It was surprising how many customers noticed and commented on it. And ClayMart just sort of stuck around as a nickname.

My Dad worked for the Iron Works and one of his jobs was to drive the Old T model one ton filled with slag and dump it wherever they stocked it... His supervisor painted on the door "Hot Rod Harry" Harry of course being his first name. He's been gone nearly 40 years, I borrowed his nick name but added the 2
So it is: HotRODHARRY2! :) Wish I had a picture....

Me? When I joined this outfit I used my CB handle (remember them??) but it was a little too close to someone else's screen name and I got dressed down for it. At that time, the forum users had the option to change screen names so I picked the air name I used when I worked in radio. Did middays at an Oldies 50's and 60's station. If you know the story about the 1960s air personality "Murray the K" Murray Kaufman and his being labelled "The Fifth Beatle", you might figure out why the program director at our oldies station decided I should be known as "Terry the K".
Fit the format, and "K" is the first initial of my last name - Kalberg. So there you have it.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Seemed better than the usual "See ya" "bye-bye" "gotcha" type messages, and of course fit the car of the same name, "theHIGHLANDER"

Gold mountain is what my ancestors called North America when they came over in the early twentieth century. Don't think many of them found the gold though.
