Loved that car. Did not know you sold it. I thought you took it with you when you moved.

 

Here's the Studebaker almost three years ago plus a picture taken just a few days ago (it was nice enough to get the car outside to fire the motor for the first time and it backed into the shop under it's own power

 

This one's last ride. 1964 Corvair Monza convertible that was FREE! It has a lot of rust in very important places so we are going to take it apart tomorrow to let other Corvairs live on. I had to winch it up on the trailer but hope to drive it off tomorrow before the carnage begins...

My buddy, Steve volunteered his sbc powered F-100 and trailer to go 50 miles to bring my 48 chevy home about 15 years ago.

Thanks, Ray - I loved it, too and hated to get rid if it, but I could only take so many with me. I still have the Olds in storage up north and the '36 in storage in KY. The new shop should be ready next week and then I can get it set-up and get back to work.

I bought this Metro and asked a friend if he could haul it for me. This was the only one of his trailers that was empty at the time.

This was October of 2017, picking up in McAllen Texas and hauling back to Corpus Christi (2 1/2 hours).
My girlfriend and I hadn't even gotten on the highway when some guy tried go flag me down on the road and make an offer! lol.

 

A few more for the traditionalists who tow with era correct vehicles...

 

I forgot about this one. It was way back in 1974, towing my first ever Hot Rod build to an indoor show down to London, and towing it with my Customers line 54.. Happy days

 

First two pictures are of the donor car I got for my project (mainly bought for the body but ended up getting tons of useful goodies as well). I had 3 motors in the bed of the truck, 7-10 Wheels, some with tires, all fenders and running boards in the trailer along with a spare axle. The car itself had all wood, trim pieces, spare steering column, boxes of nuts and bolts and you name it.

Had a trailer tire blowout on the way up (on a borrowed trailer). Then I had a blowout on the way back....due to some poor food decisions? I wrote about it in another thread but it took us well over 24 hours to get her home from North Carolina down to PCB, FL.

Oh, and when I did get it home, I found only one bolt holding the body down with no nut.

Third picture of my 46 flathead v8 getting tossed in the bed of the pickup...maybe doesn't apply.

If it wasn't so dark, I would've had pictures of the first rolling chassis I bought that took me 4 hours to load in a u-haul that was too small.

Last pic is just temp storage on my utility trailer.

I towed a 56 Chevy 2 dr home with a Honda Civic in 1973, made the first turn and the Chevy went straight, Civic went sideways, the rest of the way I kept it very slow and made it.

 

This is a pic. Of my sons 56 on the trailer just loaded and heading home. He is 16 now but got the car when he was 15.

Great idea if you live in CA with restricted trailer speeds I guess.

 

I'll bet that is fun to watch him unload, run 8 sec quarters, then watch him load it back up.

I don't have any pictures, but when I was a kit, at our local track someone drove in with a log caring truck with a stock car sitting on top of the bed. They used the arm that picks up the logs to load and unload the car. If I remember correctly, that car was fast! They used that set up all season long. I guess it falls under the thought that you got to do, what you got to do, to get the job done. Gene

 

I was also wanting to see how they got it on an off the roof, and I like the story about the log truck, can't see stuff like that while sitting at home. BigO

 

Pretty sure that’s a 24hrs of Lemons car and they race it like that!

Interesting to see how many of us use U-haul trailers...I have done it with U-haul and my own, the U-haul trailers generally tow great and are super heavy duty, but an issue in my area was you could not always find one when you needed one so once again I have my own trailer in a lil fenced in trailer storage where I store 2 trailers in a 50x50 fenced area.
