Technical Lets see Cars in Tow....gotta get em there somehow

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by choptop40, Oct 13, 2019.

  1. In highschool, and just after, a buddy had a big block 55 Chevy, 4spd. tunnel ram, 2 fours, yellow with green flames. We heard there was street racing in San Francisco, on the coast highway. We leave San Lorenzo mid evening, and head over there, two cars. We get there, pull into a parking lot on the coast highway, buddy dumps the clutch in the 55, blows the yoke off the rearend. We head back to San Lorenzo, grab somebody's Mom's Impala, drive back to the 55 with a rope and no idea what we're doing. Tie the rope to the Impala, and the 55. Flat tow the 55 all the way home. We get there about the time the sun's coming up. Fun times, miss that shit.

I built this trailer for the FED I just finished to mimic the "lollypop" trailers like those from the 50's and 60's. Got thumbs up from people in 2 different vehicles on the way home on I-55 from a test-n-tune Friday night.

Heading off to Byron Dragway last year, for the "Glory Days Vintage Drag Meet". Everything is all loaded up for this year's meet, which is this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Crappy cell phone photo of the Willys in a McDonalds parking lot the day I hauled it home, it was a long day, had not eaten since breakfast and I was starving! Thought I'd lost this one, but JR. found it not too long ago on his old phone.

Which is a great risk of trailering a car. Better to just drive it.

I can't understand this trailering a finished car to an event. Make me think it's a dog to drive or broken.

The white truck on the back is mine -its 500 ish miles to Pendine from my house so driving a 4 banger is out of the question-I broke my truck though so arrived at Pendine on the back of a recovery truck! Getting home was easy AA recovery took me!

My trailer was a but high to get the A on so we backed it on a low trailer in CA drove it from that to mine.

In WI I just lifted the damb van and trailer up.

  28. 140 miles from home, the car quits running and your sitting in a auto zone parking lot late at night you do what you gotta do. HRP
