Well, its gonna be in the mold of a Chip Foose car, so I'm sure to get hate mail... hehehehe. doesn't bother me at all.

See it's that "baggage" that I'm worried about. It seems way too childish to be respectable, and I'm sure to cross the line in some subject or other to where people won't see that it's still relevant.

Just saying "you won't win" make you think you already know what I was going to say. That I wanted this to be about VWs or that I want to start threads about VWs. And all I was going to ask was what makes them not relevant from a traditional standpoint, and Anglias, Fiat Topolinos, and Austins relevant? Is it because there are a few closed minded people you're trying to protect because they go off at the mere mention of them? That's really sad.

So the reason I'm asking all this really comes down to this: how many other eggshells are the HAMBers walking on around here? I've been into traditional and old cars for decades and the VW timebomb is one I woudn't have expected, yet you expect everyone to know it's an "old wound" here. Well, what other "old wounds" might be opened when discussing traditional rods OR the cars we like to build like the '60s customs that ahve been discussed (like guys building Falcons like mine)? I'm not trying to "win" anything, just want to know the why's, as it's apparent that my decades old definitions of traditional rods and customs is somehow out of step, and in jeopardy of catching me flack in regular threads if I somehow cross an invisible line while in sincerity trying to discuss something relevant. In that thread I thought I WAS staying on topic, in fact. So saying "stay on topic" isn't helping. Surew, NOW I know not to talk about hot rod VWs, regardless of how relevant they are to the discussion, but what else is relevant that isn't really relevant?

You're not very forthcoming. :D I mean, I'm going to try to contribute as much as I can, while learnign as much as I can to cover the voids in what I already know. (hell, even while reading and resopnding here, I'm going through all the cool tech threads I can find...Posting in this thread takes no time at all... heheheheh)

I'm just trying to have an normal, mature, intelligent conversation here about the finer points of the HAMB experience, unlike the childishness of so many other car boards. And confine it to one, central location so as not to clutter up the main boards (which I'm participating in as I find something I can contribute with). I figure that would be the courteous thing to do (again, unlike how some people act on other car boards, including ones I'm a moderator on).

(trying to put smileys in so that you understand the light tone of the post, and the thread in general, that it's just a casual discussion, not a******fest... that's the problem with a forum, rather sitting around shootin' the***** with a few cold ones... hehehehehehe)

So far, other than a few bizarre eggshells getting walked on, it's one of the coolest places I've found on the web... Man, the storehouse of old info is incredible!

You're overthinking it. Relax. Keep reading and you'll be fine.

I am curious though why you think our def. of a trad rod is not what the mainstream rodder believes it to be?

    I like your falcon.

    Allright...
So take the good with the bad.
I haven't seen your VW Thread, but I cant imagine it was any more******ic than this one.
So since you wont be happy untill something bad happens to this thread as well, and maybe you will think more highly of us when we show you that we are at least consistent...

    If nothing else...
