Here is mine, it started life as a VE Valiant and is now and has been for a long time a 1968 Dodge Dart Sedan Delivery, running 400 Big Block Mopar, all original short block built in 1974, original compression of 8 to 1, just a Mopar cam and aftermarket intake, still uses cast iron exhaust manifolds and runs 14.02 quarter mile. Have another engine on the go so i can actually go fast.
For some reason i think that high rider stance really make it look super kool. Not the use i'd have for it but it looks bad ass!
Being a Canadian Pontiac it's on a Chevy chassis and uses a chevy power-train. The wheelbase is 5 or 6" shorter than it's US counterpart..
My pal & fellow club member Ken's 29 sedan delivery,,gratuitous shot of our wagon in the background. HRP
I'm thinking vintage look, steelies and 48 caps. Stock height, maybe even keep the roof insert. Really low. Small block ford and c-4, 9 inch and mustang II. I want a nice cruiser that will go the distance. Any ideas??
One of my favorite builds from the 80's was our 37 Sedan Delivery. I found it in the swap sheet and had a friend deliver it to me from a real Jimmy Hendricks fan who owned Franks Used Cars in Texas. With the family in mind I built a concept toy model of what I had in mind and had decided to turn it into a window delivery. Used a plasma cutter for the first time to cut out the side panels. Learned that deliveries are coach kits so they have some wood in them. Spend a lot of time replacing the wood with metal around the rear door. Had fold down rear seats and some neat storage compartments. The family enjoyed it and we Drove it as a work in progress. Eventually I ended up with 3 different 37 Chevy Sedans so I decided which ever one sold I would use the money to finish the 37 Chopped Sedan which I still have. The delivery drew a lot of interest and ended up going to a guy in Indiana. We saw it in issue 39 of Rodders Digest and again at Columbus in 93. He had it looking really sharp. Lost track of it for a few years until my buddy who owned the plasma cutter spotted it at a show in California. The new owner was Marty Fisher. He had totally redone the car and was getting all kinds of attention including a spread in May 96 issue of Streetrodder. We talked a few times and I shared information and pictures of the build. He ended up buying the "Jimmy Hendricks Lives" side panels that I still had. The car was last seen for sale in Goodguys for 60K which was a little over budget for me to buy it back. Not sure where it is now.
This one is my favorite for road trips. Easy up and barbeques, it carries them no problem. Its always a fun time on the road or tours.
raymay, I really like that with the glass installed in the sides. Kind of looks like a cross between a sedan and an old Suburban. Last summer, HAMBer -Booboo and I were out cruising around one night while we were camping at our favorite swap meet. We found this one laying alongside the road. It couldn't be bought, though.
Bought this fine speciman in May, runs, "yard" drives (unless you plan on stopping), lots of rust but repairable, with title for $500. Last thing I needed but love the body style and wasn't gonna pass it up for that price.
