As mentioned above, my bombers are now done except for the padding to be done as soon as the upholstery guy finishes another project in a Winnebago; he'll also tie the pad color into the side panels etc depending on inspiration at the time. So for now I'm riding on a pillow and blanket but I definitely prefer the extra leg and arm room and seat position with the bombers. Under the bombers you may notice the seat bases, shown below. Maple with mahogany inlay and the V8 emblem for the hell of it, done by a local custom furniture and guitar maker. edit update on Sept 4, 2013: seat pads are done on my bombers and I'm psyched to try them out on many many hour drives. I'm sure they will be very comfortable:
Ha! Just the idea I have in my mind to do for a '60 Biscayne I am in process to buy. The Biscayne has mint condition factory vinyl interior, but it is the lowest entry level trim version. Looks like a plain truck cabin. Does not match with the glorious dash of 1960. Thought just to sew covers using matching colors blankets. Yours do look really cool!
