Well my 1956 F-600 is FINALLY after 7 months of a massive mess, making it home on Saturday. To celebrate I thought I'd like to see a thread on some old time large trucks, especially ones with step-side beds.

    As she is:

I plan on shortening the frame and making a custom step-side bed for it. In my opinion this makes for a very wicked looking truck. She'll be painted crimson ^_^

I'd love to see some with a stepside beds, especially a '56 Ford (though I've yet to see one of those), but reguardless, lets see some big trucks!

This is one of my favorites, note that it's an F-3 Dually. It's smiliar to what I'm planning for my '56. I'd love to see more big trucks like this.

And it seems we're the only two here with a truck over a half ton sized, lol

Cool thread... I think that Frakenstein truck needs an aligment though.

Gawd... I just realized I haven't seen the Frankenstein truck since I was about 8 years old. Brought back some memories!

  7. I have one over half ton size. I'm building a '59 F-350 dually. converting it with a '96 Cummins turbo, 6 speed trans, '80s era dana 70 with 3.54 posi. Disc brakes, etc. Had to extend the wheelbase 5" in front of the cowl to fit the motor, front end now tilts plus the hood still opens too. Going to use it to pull my 48' 3-4 car ramp trailer. After truck is done, trailer will be extended a bit to hold the 4th car.
In the process of moving 450 Pontiacs from the desert outside of Phoenix to the eastern part of the state 250 miles away in the mountains. This is the truck to move most of them when it is finished.

Then plan to do some cross county trips with it delivering and picking cars.
Here is a pic before we started still with its 292/4speed and the other with the chassis extended and Cummins being fitted. Truck is now close to running.

Still looking for something to build here... was thinking '58 LCF Chevy or a Diamond T, but haven't decided for sure. Have a '99 1T chassis cab frame to build it on and currently in the middle of a rattle-can rebuild of this:

Here's a '38 Diamond T with Cummins turbo and Allison trans. Not mine, but inspired me to get busy on my DT 201 pickup!

Steve, here's my F6 that I'm looking for an Ashton wrecker bed for. With this, the F1 in the same color, and building my new garage to look like a 50's filling station/service station, I should have everything set up to bring in old cars to work on. Here's another thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=378996[IMG]
