Now ruralrods owns it and it has the "Flying A" logo on the door.

  2. I liked it better with the hookers...

  3. I think what he means is bob tail? No bed just a cab and axle? like they used to use to haul house trailers only a hot rod.

But there was this chick that hung out at the Top Hat when I was younger, she was a bobber. At least that's what everyone said. ;)

Hey monzadood did ya ever sell that one?

Ok, I guess I'll throw mine in. I just call it a 40' Chevy truck, not custom, kustom, bobber or whatever.

  5. I really like that one, very tasteful. How about some more info, photos?

    Kool post!!

Trucks are made to be bobb'd. This is one that was at last years SK 500.
Hemi powered with a major attitude. This was his first road trip and if I
remember the story correct, drove through rain to get down here. Slicks
and wet highways make for a good time.....

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

  10. I like this one, sorta got a "dragster" look with the front axle kicked out. About the only thing I'd do different is center the rear wheel in relation to the bed.

Picked this 40' Chevy up about three years ago from a high school auto shop teacher in Oklahoma. Chopped 6, channeled 6 and shortened 13, also had a Mustang II front clip, which I finally replaced last year.

Don't have too many pictures here at work, but here's a couple more:

    That's my son's 53 Ford

  12. Holy smoke, is that Earl Sheib's daughter? That's not an Earl paintjob, is it? I really like that truck, I have a '41 Dodge I plan to do something similar with.

I've never once seen one of those fenderless "bobber" trucks that looks better than THIS:

    .

  14. That is a nice truck, but doesn't look far from stock with nice paint. The bike is real cool, close to where the "bobber" term came from.

    Perhaps that's the point. ;)

And no fenderless post-'34 truck will ever look better.

    Paint by Gene Winfield.

I hope to build a similar 60s show Triumph in the future.

I posted this before on a similar thread, I like the wheels and tires and the laid back windshield on the chopped top, has a sort of "racecar" vibe.

This is what I like about this hobby/lifestyle/sport/whatever you call it,,,,,,,,,NO RULES. Build what YOU like, if others don't like it, FUCK THEM!!!!! I see a LOT of mainstream cars that I personally don't like, but I don't need to bash others cars to make myself feel better about mine.

How about this one, nice lines, stance, bordering on "street rod" as far as build quality. I'd change the tires and drive it every day, if it was mine.

sometimes, I log on to this site just wanting to read/see some cool stuff and I just end up leaving disgusted from all the flame posts. A hotrod is a hotrod, whatever style it may be. If you don't like a certain style or whatever......don't look at it.

here's mine....wouldn't call it a "bobber" though. (I thought bobbers were motorcycles)

Build what you like but, I'd save some pennys for a set of fenders. Hell, make the bed, find a tailgate. Hood? Skip it, if you can't readily come up with one. Super low down, fenders shrouding the tires and wheels, '40 ford peecups make some of the best looking hot rods, 40 Fords WITH fenders, that is....

  25. I don't care I like them, I think they look kinda Roth-ish.

I think it's funny how people say things like, "this look is played out" or " everyone copied Rudy's truck" or any similar comments, but nobody says things like that when someone builds another black 32 3W or another Model A on duece rails or any other mainstream hot rod. I'm building a similar truck right now and I don't think I'm copying anyone or going for the latest look, I'm just building a hot rod. That's what they all are right? Hot rods.

I was going to post a couple pics of this truck but McKee beat me to it. This was at the Goodguys show at Charlotte last year...slick truck no doubt

It won't be near as nice (cause it just don't fit my style) but here is the 47 Studebaker I'm working on

the whole point of hotrods is to have fun.

I have sked this before, but does anyone actually know Rudy?
what does he think of all this?

At this point, the truck is larger than life. The truck needs the whores, anything else just begs the question, "where did the girls go?" Kinda like re-painting the California Kid. It just doesnt work.
