I just picked up a non hamb freindly daily (72 riv) that i will slowly do into a 70's lowrider.Think the las vegas car but toned down a bunch. I know we have had some lowrider pic post before but i would like to see more of a later style if possible.

And if this doesnt jive with the flow of the hamb please let me know and i will delete it.

Ryan when will you start a Traditional lowrider board? I think it is much needed for use guys that are into it.

    Thanks
    Bryan

I got that picture of the '65 from a mid-70s Peterson publication so Bellflower tips were around at least until then. I think they made it in some form or another a up into the early 80s.

    Good luck with your Riv.
A full on juiced old school boatail lowrider has always been a dream car of mine.

go with cragars - some 14's

astros are too common now on 'traditional lowriders'

i vote no on the bellflowers, i think it would look bitchin with some long pencil tips out the back.

wild panels and lace on the whole damn thing.

    low and slow brother.

For the early to mid 70s look you're going for, 14" reversed Cragars would be a much better choice than Supremes.

im preety sure i cant fit 15's with the huge 12" brakes. the ones i have are reverse 15x6" and yea i wasnt going to bellflower it. i was thinking 2" straight pipes with pencile tips as well.

and o yes it will be paneled and laced all over

  12. A few more here. Not many traditional (or tasteful for that matter), but you can see a few with the bumper/grill treatment I was referring to. Plus might get a few ideas here and there. Just no fins! :D

    my old ride.

it looked more or less stock externally, but had 4 pumps, 10" rams set up coil-under, 6 batteries, 36v, 10 switches. stock 14s with caps and 185/65 low profiles.

and a 455 olds big block, open headers, th400, and 9"

it dragged the front crossmember on full drop(muchos sparks!), and chipped the front wheels about 5". it didnt three, if i hadnt sold it i would have fited 14" rears chained off at 10" so it did.....

This one to me is the SHIT! It looks like what the "Space Herpe" might have looked like if it "morphed".

  20. It JIVES, it JIVES! The "original" Gypsy Rose (pictured) was my favorite traditional Lowrider back then (early 70's)!!!! It got ruined, and the guy built a second one. I watched that one get painted years ago at Walts.

My first memory of a lowrider was when my Uncle showed up at our house with a boattail rivi, hydro on wires.... this would have been about 1973-1975 time frame.

  22. My second car. Check the year on the side of the picture(Apr 72)

Whoever captioned the photo in the magazine didn't know his Impala's; thats a '66. Unless somebody put the ugly assed '66 taillights on a '65...

  26. My 61, "juiced" (I HATE the term Hydros) front and rear with 5.20's
    [IMG]

  27. My 68, my 58, and my buddy Tony's 65 painted by Bill Carter (one of the best custom car painters in the world). He's been on the cover of EVERY magazine back in the day with Customs, Lowriders, Duallies, Funny Cars, Dragsters, Race boats, you name it. Trivia-back then (a long time ago) Bill had a sign hanging in his shop that read Pearls, from $195, and Metalflake, from $225. This was for a whole car!!!!!!!!!

  28. Another shot of Tony's "juiced" and 'Flaked 65. Check the "donut" steering wheel.
