Are you talking about the 58 posted above? If so, I think they made about 700 of them. There were kind of interesting, basically a Studebaker with extra bits added on; the quad headlight buckets, the extra fins, and that bit of front fender below the headlights. The hoods on these cars were fiberglass.
The extra fins added on at the rear were crudely done. Basically a sheet metal addition that was screwed in place. The seems were covered with the side trim. They added another piece of trim (painted body color) down the trunk deck to cover that seem.
I've been helping a buddy customize one of these. We're almost done.

These are the finished photos of my ‘58 Packard Starlight. It has the Studebaker 289 engine with automatic. The color is Blazing Peacock. There are a lot of features that Bobby and I have done including welding the fins on and leading them so that they look a part of the car rather than added on. The car has 150 miles on it right now and soon we will be adding a Weiand intake with 2 Stromberg WW carbs and custom air cleaners. 3E39BEB8-BD3E-43FE-8608-092946F0AA3C.jpeg 95ADF1B3-87B8-42DD-B5FE-B711A0E04884.jpeg There were 670 made and as far as we know only about 110 accounted for.

Buddy Crofton, that is a beautiful job you've done with that car, you really did that exterior justice, and I truly hope and pray (with no offense meant) that the seats inside are temporary.

Here is a photo of my 55 Super Clipper sedan. Coil and leaf spring suspension. Manual transmission. Most of these cars had the Torsion Level suspension and Twin Ultramatic transmission. A few were made with the conventional suspension. I had the car converted from the automatic to a manual transmission. The photo was taken in my daughter's driveway in Austin where the movie "Parkland" was being filmed in the Hyde Park neighborhood. The car got into one of the scenes, but that whole part of the movie got cut out. I believe the car is now back in Maryland where it was sold new in Baltimore. IMG_0039.jpeg

The top one is mine, a racing engine built at Ansen Speed Shop back in '57-58. Full of cool speed goodies that haven't been made for 50 years. Going in a drag roadster project.
bottom one belonged to Rich Fox. He ran it in a Vega at Bonneville. Modified Mopar RB FI setup. I have some of the parts from that engine. Rich passed away recently, he had a great hot rodder imagination.

Wayne Trowbridge from Salem, Or. built this Altered with 450" Packard. He did slight modifications to a B-Mopar injector, and it ran strong. Wayne Trowbridge.jpg

Dad drove Packards till 56 when they built the last "real Packard". He had a lead foot & that 56 Carribean loved it. I loved it. It would pin you to the seat when those dual quads kicked in. Switched to Lincoln in 58. That 56 was a REAL CAR!!!!!!

Trying to keep this H.A.M.B. friendly, here is a photo of my '30 Ford A Roadster and '37 Packard Six (115C) Convertible Coupe. The A has a Brookville body, Duce style frame, 283 SBC and TH 350. Bought it in Austin and kept it for about 5-years. I got much enjoyment out of working on it and driving it. IMG_0016.jpeg It is now in Plymouth, Mass. I bought the Packard in Santa Fe in 2006, moved it to Austin and sold it in 2017. It is now in Belgium. I had more fun with that car. The grandsons loved the rumble seat. I miss it.

I owned three Packards. Photos of the 37 and the 55 have been shared here. Now, the last one, a 47 Custom Super Clipper Touring Sedan. 356 cu. in. straight eight engine with 9 main bearings and making 160 h.p. It would roll down the road with the overdrive. I kept the speed down because the tires were about 20 years old. I bought it in Santa Fe in 2008 and had it transported to Austin. It was a beautiful car, but had much deferred maintenance. I worked on it for several months IMG_0619.jpeg getting all the systems serviced. This was the top of the line for Packard in 1946-47 except for the limousines. I sold it to a party in Maryland. Sadly, he died a few months later at Christmas time. The family then sold it to its current owner. It is now in South Carolina and will soon be moving to Florida. It found a good home.
