anybody have pictures of 1940s or 1950s cars that have been converted into pickup or el camino/ranchero type trucks?.....please post only ones that have been done tastefully,,,ive seen plenty of examples of hideous ones,,,that betty brite shampoo truck (bailon?) that was recently found is one of the nicer ones,,,and there are a couple in the barris series of books,,,,i know there were a lot more built though...

  2. What about pickups converted into cars??? Now that would be more interesting and much less common! I know of the one sweet ass 65 of 66 Chev pickup here on the Hamb with the 354 Hemi and Imperial treatment, now that is MUCH cooler than el craparo conversions!!!

  3. Here are a few.
    Unpper left - a 55 Plymouth
    Middle Left - 50 Chevy - 48 Caddy fneders 50 Chevy Bed.
    Lower left - 49 Caddy
    Upper Right - 57 Desoto
Middle Right - 41 Ford Car front/50 Ford PU rear
    Lower RIght - 50 Ford

    I dig 'em.

I Don't know if you'd call this "tastefully done" or not, but...

Some of those trucks are funeral flower cars--the Buick is and the 49 Cadillac in the set of 6 pics.I really like the cool coupe cabs on them.

I don't know if I did it tastefully or not but then how many Frazers do you see in a day let alone Frazer RPU....
48 Frazer cut in half...home manufactured cab back...80 something S10 box that was reskined and has a set of 49 Chevy fenders cut down to fit...home made rear roll pan and smoothed tailgate...I have since replaced the metal roof with one I made from a tube frame and fiberglass...

57 Chevy and other 50's El Caminos = Cool
Later years like late 70's and 80's El Caminos = Mullet of cars. Business in the front, party in the back.
