My '29 standard coupe in 1969. Rustoleum green, from a rattle can, from a quart can, didn't matter to me as long as it kept down rust and washed off at the quarter-eater car wash. Wheels were sprayed with dark grey primer. It was my first car. I sold it to pay off a loan from my parents to buy my second car, a five-year-old '64 Barracuda. Wish I still had 'em both.

 

OK, just a little OT, but is it worth the trouble to use Adhesion Promoter when using rattle can spray to paint plastic? I want to paint the Vintage air under dash unit to match my dash, and was told that the A.P. would be the answer to getting the paint to stick for good....any ideas?

 

It is. Just sitting in the garage.

Rustoleum semi gloss black rattle can on the firewall, inner fenders and core support. And of course the engine is rattle can high heat engine enamel.

 

Lacquer Thinner

 

All by hand.

 

Try lacquer thinner with the enamel paint instead of acetone.... Try it on a scrap piece of metal first before doing your car body...

 

I got to paint a utility trailer I will experiment with it.

 

Jeepster, is this the stone paint? It resembles the zolotone that used to be available, what are your thoughts on it? Looks Great in the photos, Carp.

 

Everything on my truck is painted with rattle cans. Frame, axles, engine, body, dash, wheels, headers etc.

Yes it is. Hopefully it holds up better than zolotone. Went on pretty easy, a few light coats with a ten minute setup time between.

Mostly everyting except body & frame ( had frame paint matched to rattlecan color ! )

 

My '48 F-1

 

1961 Impala, rattle-can from the beltline down and a few blend spots. Took 2 colors of Dupli-Color, light one on first then fog on darker color for match.





VHT for the engine and Krylon semi-gloss fenderwells.

 

Whole dash, gold trim plates, all of it.

 

Just a quick question, do any of these stand up to fuel?

 

Mine don't!

 

My dash and roll bar I did with rattle cans
