  3. Hey guys, not hijacking the thread, but I need a few frame measurements from a '61-64 F-100:

    1. What is the the I-beam mounting pad dimension (front to back) where it rests on the leaf springs?

    2. What is the vertical cross-section of the frame at the axle centerline?

    3. What is the width of the frame channel forward of the firewall?

    Can one of you throw a tape on your truck? I need to pick up some steel for some frame mods, and the truck is not at my house yet. I promise to share the details...Much appreciated!

    I just picked up a 1965 F100 LWB styleside about a month ago. Its got a 300 six with an aod from a 1983 van. Me and my dad just got it on the road and were having some work done on the frontend right now. I'll post some pics when I get somemore time.

    My 65. Currently it is the only vehicle I have that is road worthy. Not too easy on gas though with it's 240 six and three speed manual.

So as you know its a 64 F100 fleet side short box. I bought it about 17 years ago from an old guy who was the original owner. This truck has been my daily driver for most of those years minus the time i tore it down to rebuild. The lowering job on the front is accredited to a 95 Crown Victoria sub frame, set un to sit as low as possible while still being able to drive it on the streets of Denver witch are horrible roads for hot rods. The rear has been flipped with most of the springs but 3 removed. The frame was also c-notched to allow movement for the axle. The original 292 was replaced about 10 years ago with a 302 out of a 68 Fairlane, and a 88 aod backing it up. At some point in the near future I plan on taking the Y-Block that I took out of my 55 Fairlane and built that up and put it into the truck with a 3 duce intake on it. When the rear finally blew out, the 4:11's were replaced with a 3:50 gear set to make the truck more enjoyable on the hiway and long trips. The interior is nothing special, basically stock with a red and black tuck-n-roll seat. I still have a plan of finishing out the interior when money is available for it. The body has been reworked to clean up the lines, but not take away from fords original design. A body line was continued into the cowl from the A pillar to smooth out that line. The trim was removed and filled because it wasn&#8217;t working into the vision along with the antenna and ford script on the front. The CustomCab door emblem was cut up to read just Custom. A body line was added to the bed sides to follow the curved body line that follows the rest of the truck. The steak wholes and all the seams were filled on the bed also to clean it all up. The only part on the truck that isn&#8217;t ford are the 64 impala tail light lenses that are frenched in so they would more resemble my 55 Fairlane tail lights. I am running hoodless and have been for a few years now. The plan was to always run a hood, and I do have one that I nosed and peaked, but after running it for a few years without one, I really like the look so I decided to run with it (or without it as it may be). At that rate I needed to clean up the engine compartment a little so everything was removed and smoothed except for the master cylinder. The battery and the starter solenoid were moved under the cab and all the wiring that needed to be there was run in copper. The paint in the engine compartment, motor and wheels is Viper red with a boat load of medium red metal flake. The old 60&#8217;s Peterbilt emblem on the front also got a treatment of Viper red and flake. The colors on the truck are just Omni black and Omni Vanilla shake with about 3 gallons of clear smoothed out on top. The final plan for the interior is to redo the tuck-n-roll and to paint the bottom part of the dash in the red metal flake. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time due to the fact that my 4 year old son has claimed it at this point and calls it his, so I guess when he turns 16 I will pass the torch and let him enjoy it as much as I have.

    Thanks alot Spot. That was my plan all along when i started. I wanted to improve the lines in a way to make the truck look smoother, but almost unnoticeable. They are really hard to see unless you know the trrucks or it is sitting right next to another one that is stock.

    Heres my 64. 292/ 4spd and a 3.25 9" rear end. Its my daily but needs a battery right now. Built the bed cover for a math project. :D

    Sadly sold my 63 about a year ago but am taking delivery of a 65 longbed with a 302/C6/Ford 9 inch as soon as the snow melts. Pics when it gets here.

    Got my 65 last week, found out the 302 had bad lifters so I am currently working on swapping the cam for a Comp Big Mutha Thumpr and a new set of lifters as well as installing a Weiand single 4 barrel tunnel ram and Holley 600 vacuum secondary carb that has been rebuilt and tuned some.

    Engine is a 69 302 bored 30, forged flat tops, factory heads with new valves and springs as well as pinned studs. Engine was rebuilt in 96 and been mostly sitting since, new gaskets installed 3 years ago and everything inspected at the time. Holds 60psi at idle and needs an oil change.

    Truck also has a C6 from who knows what and a Ford 9" from a 72 F100.

    Pics as soon as I get the engine back together and get batteries for my camera.

    Hey Bottleneck... yes your truck is a 60s ford.. I let it slide.. the term Slick 60s is the nick name given to 61-66 ford trucks. Not sure why.. just is. I have asked many ford truck guys with no real answer. fyi.. www.slick60s.com.
