Nice work. Beautiful cars with some incredible lettering and graphics.

  4. I know these shots have been up before, but I thought they would be relevant to this post, even in miniature. I combed thru tons of race images-Drag Race and Funny Car pictorials from Hot Rod, as well as many current Drag books to find just the right Fonts and styling cues for my kids cars. All the vendors are real and from the era.
The only "new" names are my kids, striper/sign painter-Van, painter- Nick O Teen,
and blower sculptor-Lou Z. All hand done, no vinyl.
    D.

Some pics of my friends 57 chevy. All paint no tape! Name on his car is from a 1955 chevy wagon that raced at St.genn Missouri early 70s.

back in the day (1966) my sigwriting mentor showed me what brushes, paints, thinners etc. and told me to go out and get my own work. i've been doing it ever since. now with that said, i was careful to do only what i thought i could pull off at the time, eventually learning all aspects of the trade. one thing i would recommend for budding signwriters is to go to any letterhead events. these are held all over the country and uk and australia, some of the nicest, extremely talented people come and share the knowlege.

  16. Does anyone have any action shots of this car?!?

This car makes me feel all funny in strange places.

I have had this picture in my favorites bin for a few years.

I like it so much I'm considereing this color and this style of lettering on my Anglia. The door lettering would be gold leaf reading "Green Mean$ Go". :D

The #5 was done by Mitch Kim and #7 by Spike Parham, for you oval track fans ,that is Indy Veteran Len Sutton behind the wheel of the #5 and N.W. racer Kuzie Kuzmanich in my #7.

Not still active, but did lots of hand lettering in the late 60's and all thru the 80's...did a lot of dirt stock cars, a few drag cars and bunches of trucks and windows....you guys are right..this is a LOST art for the younger generation and as my pinstriper friend Rick Harris says...Vinyl is for FLOORS!! I'm attaching a sign I did for our annual trip to Bowling Green..our parking spot was given this nick name by Greg Sharp and I said what the heck, and surprised everyone with this sign...I still enjoy lettering but I ain't near as steady and not near as fast as I once was....received a nice compliment on this sign by the infamous Dan Shaw....Joe

This is off topic, but is that Forester able to tow that car around?
