Hello everyone, I was just curious to see what all your garages are looking like. There is a ton of really good looking rods on this site. I need some inspiration to keep me going since I don't have the time/money/space to build anything right now because of college. I'm trying to find a project that I can work on starting over winter break, so we'll see what happens.
Well heres some of mine.. but for more info on this stuff go to garagejournal.com . Lots of cool ideas and anything you need to know about whatever goes in a garage.
Search is your friend. This thread will show you just about every garage on the hamb: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188434
My old one, now the warehouse for my construction company and my new one a 2 car garage after I acid stained the floor
I bet you don't like moving that very often ! Mind you ... you can make a whole lotta cool stuff with a mill like that !
The Wartime Machine Tools and Equipment are amongst the Best Machine Tools to Every Likely Have Been Handcrafted (in my humble opinion). They Are Typically Made To Out Last Anything Made Before or Since And The Accuracy Once Set Up Is OutStanding! OcFab, You sure have a Great Mill, I'm Jealous .
Recently finished my new workshop and have now moved tools etc in. I was going to paint the floor but after a discussion on the UK NSRA forum I tiled it in ceramic tiles. Tiles were bought from Walls & Floors who often do good deals on quarry tiles - managed to do it all in a day but had very very sore knees. It has 32 electrical sockets and two 30 amp points for the welder. Has its own consumer unit with RCD. 4 x 2 metre florescents will mean that I can now see what I'm doing. The workshop came from Warwick Garden Buildings near Birmingham in the UK. It's been insulated and lined in 12mm OSB. The workshop is 20 x 12. I would have liked something bigger but the site was very restricted (see photos). To compensate I had a 35 x 9 car port installed. That's now had doors put on and the sides boxed in. I'm already wishing that the workshop was 30' x 60'. It wouldn't have been too expensive. The same company do one for about £8,500 delivered and erected - about what I paid for the workshop and car port combo. My problem was the size and layout of the site. Pictures below taken before the car port was erected show just how tight it is. We've since had the drive block paved and the garden landscaped so it all looks very tidy and the workshop doesn't really dominate the garden - well that's what I keep telling everyone However, it's the best set-up I've ever had and is about 40 square metres of covered dry space. I built my first kit car in a lean-to made out of a 2x2 timber batten framework with visqueen plastic sheeting stapled to it. The tumble dryer vented into it and when that was going I worked in a warm fog!! I have put in a woodburner - still to install the flue and the fireproofing for the walls. Should keep the workshop toasty warm in the winter. Having moved 4 times in the last two years I'm now enjoying getting properly stuck into finishing the Modified.
I figured I should post some pics I have on hand. No pics of the inside of the 2 car, but I do have a pic of the inside of our "parts accumulation garage". Bonus points if you can spot the make of the cowl on the left. We have since put up a second cover-it in the back for more . . stuff. I'll have to take some pictures of the inside of the 2 car, it's where my current car project as well as my vintage player piano project resides.
