I'm planning to build a surface frame table that will be used for jigging up and welding a production-quality run of fairly complicated tube ch***is. I've searched and seen some nice frame tables and jigs, and this has convinced me that I need the flexibility of a surface table. I'd like to thread holes into a large (and unfortunately expensive) 1/2" or 5/8" plate based on where the numerous tubes will be, and locate tubes/pins of various lengths on the plate wherever needed. I'll buy a professional auto body shop measuring system to make sure everything is where I want it to be. What I need is, to see what ideas everyone has for clamping systems that I can attach to the pins mentioned above. I don't want C-clamps since the ch***is will be 1.5" round tube. Any ideas? TIA! Hank
REID supply company had excellent clamps exactly for what you are doing. All different types and you can pre-set them so they're the same every time: https://reidecom.reidtool.com/xephr/edit/CATEGORY?query=*CATALOG_ID=RF118&query=*START_WITH_ID=3797 AND https://reidecom.reidtool.com/xephr/edit/CATEGORY?query=*CATALOG_ID=RF118&query=*START_WITH_ID=4430 Also try Carr Lane MFG CO. http://www.carrlane.com/
