i am looking for some inspiration for the new garage. it's only a modest 19x19, but compared to what i have attached to my house now, it's HUGE.

i know some of you guys have a bitchin' setup in your garages and shops, both tools/workstations and car 'art', so let's see what ya got...

    thanks!

ill get you a picture when I get home from work, but the best thing I did is salvage old cabinets. makes a heck of a work bench and storage.

yeah, ryan was gonna buy some cool old metal kitchen (i think) cabinets for his garage (i even liked the color of them) but he passed on those. i'd like to see what he decided on.

I'm in the process of moving my stuff into a small rental. This is the first time I've been able to actually organize my tools in my own space.

  6. not all HAMBers have huge workshops full of every tool and machine you need.
some of us just dont have the space to build the garage we want.......not yet anyway!
Check out mine, probably typical of a UK rodders garage (infact large compaired to some I've seen)

We are pretty close to building a message board just for garages and workshops... should be pretty cool.

There is no such thing as enough garage. I have two, a 24 x 30, and a 24 x 50, and I still need more room.

DANG! Cochran/Walmart Industrys........"If you like it, we have a website for it!"

That IS really cool. I think I like talking about my garage almost as much as hot rods......

    Mine is a 34x30
has a complete upstairs (best part of the whole thing)
put up an I-beam for lifting things.....love mine compared to my engine hoist
put up plenty of drop lights and heavy duty drop extension cords....

What is the green car with the blue scallops?

  18. Here's a normal rule of thumb to bo by:

The size of a man's garage is always inversely proportional to what he can afford to put in it.

Nothing impressive. It 24x36 with a 12/12 roof giving it a roomy second second floor. I built it myself except for shingling that 12/12 roof. I'm too much of a sissy for that.:D

  20. Here's ours. It's 52x32.

  22. Here's mine, it's 12' wide and almost 40' long, it's a pain in the ass and it kicks ass at the same time, does that make sense?

Not true... You will fill it no matter how big it is.... really... People will give you stuff, you will haul stuff you don't need home, build it and it will fill up...

well, rock, in case i sense a touch of sarcasm, realize that when i had my '64 impala in my garage (front bumper touching the drywall) my back bumper would have hit the inside garage door handle and not allowed me to shut the door. i had to remove the inside handle.

oh, and my driver's door hit the side wall every time i got out.

from where i'm sittin' your place looks pretty damned good...

Heres mine...38x40 and 15ft to the peak.

  28. Man, I am jealous of all you guys. In socal the land is so prohibative a garage of any decent size is almost impossible to find. I have to rent 3 storage 10 x 20's and borrow a garage slot from my sister and my parents to stash all my stuff.

I did manage to put in a lift so I can keep 3 cars in a two car garage.

Here's my shop. I moved in about 2 1/2 years ago. It was just an empty metal shell then.

This is a shot from the storage loft onto the shop floor. The walls still need paint .The workbench area is on the right

This is the loft side The storefronts on the second floor are fake and hide the storage area. The lower ones house my finished pedal cars, another is a diner (lunchroom) a fire station (garage for my bumpercar and snowblower), and a flower shop (bathroom)

We just finished the sheetrock on this back wall, and if I never see sheetrock mud again, I'll be a happy guy.

Heres a closeup of the workbench.. 20 feet long with a top of 1/2 in steel plate.
I spent close to 30 years working out of a converted two car garage so yeah, I do feel like I died and went to heaven !!!!
