Hollywood East.........tell us more about your building. Did you restore it? What is the bucket hanging from the rafters? It's one of the coolest man caves I've seen. I'm trying to convince my wife to buy a big old barn and convert it to a garage on the main floor and living quarters above. She is not going for it so far.

This building came into my life..... when looking for a pair of Willys truck r. fenders.... a Good friend of mine said he saw a junk yard 35 mls. away from where we lived.... Well we where lost when I found this building w/a for sale sign, we turned around called.... Mind you the slate roof was in Very bad shape, Back then in 1881 they didnt treat the hand made nails.... and there had been a fire in a building many Moons before in a building in front of it.... Firemen sprayed water on the hot slate roof, Hence the broken slate a decade later was a waterfall through the hole in the roof when it rained out! Well I made a deal, restore a few Jeeps and was the new Owner... Then it was time to do the roof, I hate Heights!!! walked every square inch of it in the rain, snow and darkness, sold the old roof for close to enough to buy the metal!!! Always wanted to know what it looked like to look out a Coopala, Talked to a friend who ran a hardware store I use to buy fasteners from for my builds, Told him I wanted to know how much windows cost... How big do you want? I have no money Just wanted to know....how big do you want... I have No money but the bigger the better, the building is 100'.... walk into the back room(he is a Herd window rep.) your next to them???? I dont see anything.... look up wtf! 4x8 double pain sliding doors, How much??? $600. I'm thinking a piece, Nope for all six!!!! SOLD! The rest is History... When I sell the Porsche Outlaw I will finish a REAL living area.... My Prioritys are a Little Off...Cheers ps: No ex-wifes,no Kids, and my power gets turned off at least once a year... But it makes for better reading.. :)

  21. Hey Sir Woosh,

We spent Christmas in our garage this year, too. Actually, we had a party with 19 of my hotrodder buddies present to share pizza and pinball, watch some vintage racing vids and swap stories from last summer's cruising and shows. Best part of having the garage is sharing it with good friends on a cold, snowy winter day!

    Wow Jim!

You've got some real treasures laid up there! Me? I'm just a poor boy. I get excited finding little things to put on display like in this picture. To date, I only have about 2 grand invested in my whole place. Not counting my own labor at $2 an hour...........

Maybe I'll hit the lotto one day and be able to use your spread as a model........

    Totally impressive!

  23. Thanks for the reply! I've watched your posts as you have added to your collection and you've got some great stuff (I love your diner area)!

Actually, I've been gathering this junk up for the last 30-35 years and only within the last 5 years built the garage to house it all. Many item were actually given to me over the years (including the Ford dealer neon signs and some of the gas/oil porcelain signs). I'm retired and certainly couldn't afford to go out and build my collection at today's prices, but I enjoy having hotrodder buddies drop by and share the atmosphere. If you ever get to western WV, send me a pm for directions to stop by the garage!

FWIW, my Daughter lives in Martinsburg, WV. Someday when I visit her and have time for a side-trip, I'd enjoy seeing your collection.

Coming from you and what you've accomplished, I really appreciate the compliments!

Yep, I can almost see Martinsburg W.V. from where I live. You are certainly invited by for a malted at "the Grand FinAlley"

I put 10,000 miles on my main rod in the past year without going more than 125 miles away. Plan to driving more this year which should take me by your field of dreams. (inside that is)

Even with what I have, it's all inspired to share with fellow rodders. Sure is a great escape during the Winter when cruising slows down around here, right?

    Thanks again!

P.S. The invitation goes out to other Hambers as well when in the area.
