That's a small block chev with Olds covers on it! Here's one of my favorite rockets, wish it were mine! All the rest of my rocket pics are at home.
i knew somebody would catch that. i bought a 31 chev pu off ebay with a 53 olds w/ 3 2 brls. was wondering how many run olds in their ride
Sad, sad, sad. I was going to post one of these as well. Here's my rocket, not much to look at, but it's real! W/ a couple of goodies on the '56 block I have sitting at home, Some of my stuff, not all of it by far, Some of the fav's, Not really clear, but look on the top of the hood, it say's Olds powered, Wish I had this setup!! This one would do as well, I guess!! Later, -peter ROCKETEERS!!!
YOU KNOW IT!! I also have some new headers for my 303, about 18 adjustable rockers, working on a new manifold, and just got some Jahn's pistons from Blownolds. Know where I can get a '57 crank?! Almost able to build a new engine w/ parts I have!! Any new's on those fentons man?! Also in that pick, you don't see all the stuff on the floor!! he he he... -peter
The old fart still has em. But now he has raised the price, greed has set in. Didn't know you were looking for a 371 crank, I sold a 371 short block in the spring.
Bummer Jeff, ohh well, I don't have space for a whole block anyway, I already think the landlady is going to kill my brother and me, we already have my olds out front, parts of his honda **** bike, mainly the engine and a bunch of degreaser!! lol... Foiled, I didn't know you were a Rocketeer!! Great looking ride man, clean as hell! Even like the moon disks, and I'm not a huge fan of 'em. Another pic, just to keep them coming! -peter
I don't know how "vintage" it is... but it is a '70 Olds 455. New Al rad and fan shroud since photo was taken. Dad's '50 fastback that he did a frame off on and has since sold to a guy in AZ. Dad's '50 Holiday Coupe. This was my everyday cruzr whenever I was between hot rods. He has since sold it to a local couple and I see it quite often cruzn around onthe eastside of town.

I liberated a set of Caddy sombreros from a local doomed wrecking yard before it got plowed under so I may set it up with those. my '55 has seen over 100,000 miles since I bought her and has been all over the country, has had only a valve job and is essentially stock. up 'til '91 or so it even had a lot of original paint. I love that car. I'll be a very old man when I finally give her up.
Here's mine, pulled out of my buddy's '51 Mercury...a kustom from back in the day... Maybe it'll end up in my '38 Ford..??? Anybody have an idea what year/size it is..?? Thanks..!!
looks like a '54-'56 324 you got there snacky, but if you had some numbers i could tell you for sure.peter (rodnkustom) had some pictures of mine but claims he "lost them" but we already know what a rotten liar he is
Thanks..!! I have a couple more pics too... from the drivers side... and from the lower front... The engine is so dirty that I couldn't see any numbers... but maybe I'm looking in the wrong area as well... the rad part is, that it was under a hood forever, and it still spins freely... Maybe with just a 'freshen up' it could be a runner..!! Yorgatron, check yer PM's...
Heres a couple of mine......first is in my roadster and the second is in my sedan. I love these motors....
No pics of mine (well engine anyway) right at the moment its a bit dirty and sitting behind a badly leaking radiator (after only 48 years, they don't make em like the used too....) will get some pics of the next one once I start to get to together.....
Foiled, nice ride man. Didn't know you are a rocketeer! Denise, you got me droolin' on my keyboard! I'll give you a shout when I need you to raid dad's parts stash!
Denice,Denice,DENICE, How could you let those 50's get away. Got to be my favorite year.OUTSTANDING!!!!! One of my favorite rockets was a 55'324cu, taken out to 346cu was a sbc killer.Paid for books, tuition and beer money thanks to sbc's they never learn.Sorry no pic but I still have the engine. Also love 371's & 394's currently have two 324's & two 371's & three 394's not counting a 330,two 350's 425,two 455's I guess I'm ate up.
Snacky, your actually questioning Yogi?!! Yeah, looks right to me, at least that's what the valve covers are saying, looks pretty stock as well. Dunno, don't have my xray gl***es on though. Although, we would need numbers to identify it in all certainty. Pretty much all of the '49-56 olds's looked alike upon visual inspection. Just little changes here and there, like valve covers, generator placement, intakes, you know. Mr.Don Wow, you make me feel better about my self, makes me feel like not as much of a "parts *****"! -peter
Here are some more pics I had, since nobody else is posting, This is the Ray and George Bowers 364ci Rocket, Here's the Ron Pellegrini 462ci Olds, B/GD in 1956-7, won 63 out of it's 69 races in those years, at speeds up to 123.63mph, And finally, here's a 324 powered rail, Hope those wet the appe***e, -peter
Peter... I was pretty sure that was the year range... Second, third, or fourth opinions never hurt... esp. around here..! Thanks..!!
Hee, hee, hee. Nice pics. I got a bunch of pics too. Unless Erdy beats me to posting them, I'll post them. But I just sent him all my pics, so I know he's got 'em on disc too... I'm about 3 months away from having my engine mocked up with the new Littlefield blower, but that'll be too late for this thread Hotrodladycruiser! That's only the third time I have ever seen those valve covers for the late Olds! I have one pair, and the other pair was on a boat engine locally (and not for sale either). One of mine is no name with a breather like the one shown, the other has the cursive Edelbrock script in the center, but otherwise identical. I believe these were Edelbrock's first production run, as they later had two other versions that didn't look the same. If you have mismatched covers like I just described, Id be interested in attempting a trade with you to get us both a matching pair... And DANG IT, I thought CGKid sold all his 394 stuff??????? I am looking for some finned no-name valve covers for the 394, and if those ones on the motor are the ones that have the gasket retaining lip on the bottom, I'll make it worth his while!! I need some nice ones with no breathers or holes.
