I left the fender brackets on for a couple of reasons. First, they were still in great shape. Secondly, when they're removed the stock-length bed gets pretty "smooth" and slab-sided looking. Plus, they add the challenge of centering your wheels in 'em. That's a deuce grille shell, I took around three inches off the sides to drop it down even with the cowl. It's still stock height, just lowered. I used a hole saw to duplicate Henry's stamping, then recut the sides of the shell three inches higher. Mine wasn't in that good of shape to start, so it was easier for me to cut it up. You may want to hang onto your original and get a repop to butcher.
That is one very tasty RPU! Be sure to share it again when you do a top . . . and you should, plus sidecurtains so you can drive it year 'round. Nice work, and you have good eye. Mike
My ol beater, a '53. Runs a '91 350 and a MII front end. The 34 year old shit paint job is getting more fashionable every year! One of these days I'll get the rear lowered and get rid of the Farmer bumper. Maybe some wide whites, door art... Pete
Here's my 59. It's my daily driver again but the front suspension is getting downright scary. I'm trying to decide whether to rebuild it or to go with a front clip of something with a real suspension (Dodge or Mustang II). It's got a decent new 390 and cheater slicks rain or shine.
I dont think iv put this pic up yet and its pretty old. With any luck it'll hit rod tosser's this weekend. Lucky your truck looks great. Nice choice on the color scheem and design, and i havent forgotten about your templates, just crazy buisy lately.
Thanks Hip, right back at ya. Love the stance on yours...and I'm really diging that fleet side bed...maybe I need to get me one of them. I'm fixin' to put slotted mags on the truck. Picked up a set cheep and really hate the wheels that are on it now...
Here is my 39 Chevy, as soon as the Olds is on the road it is getting a 235, saginaw, and a brake job and she will hopefully be my daily/ shop truck.
Here's my latest, just bought it as it sits. Chopped and sectioned on a late model 1/2 ton chassis. Right now I'm rebuilding the engine and hope to have it on the road before the snow flies. Future plans include reducing the 90's vibe it's currently giving off.
Here are some pics of the truck my son and I built. It's a 1947 International long box, powered by a 472 Cad with a Volare front clip.
