I got the 140H , Its fairly mild but it's going in a daily driver . Banking on the torque capability of the Cad and not so much higher end HP as the heads will only flow so much...

@Roothawg thanks for the specs, other then stiffer valve springs, will that cam work with all the stock valve train components?

They suggested going to an adjustable rocker, which I am doing anyway. I'll probably go to a custom length pushrod with a small oiling hole to help lube the pivot ball.

That sounds like about what I’m looking for. My Chevy brain was looking at the 142H because it is similar ish to the 350hp Chevy hydr but the 140H sounds about right.

Here's a question for you guys, what year do the rocker arm shaft pedestal mounts interchange? It appears 49-54, 55 is by itself, and 56-up are the main types. I see they look different, but would they interchange if it's all you had? It appears the rocker shaft itself is the same.

I know the early rockers have less ratio, don't know about the pedestals. Which one's are you looking for? I have some 390 stuff here I could measure for you.

I'm working on a 1955 331, when I was torquing the heads down I had one split in half. Of course from everything I've read it's one year only, but that doesn't necessarily mean that another year wouldn't work, maybe it just looks different.

my 390 pedestals measure, 1.813 tall, 1.030 wide where the shaft passes through, .565 from the bottom of the shaft bore to the head mounting surface. I didn't measure the shaft bore cause we know they use the same shaft. Also the bolt hole is offset it measures .230 on one side and .350 on the other measured from the top of the pedestal.

Thanks! Looks to be a little wider, my 55 is .910 wide and the bolt seems to be centered not offset.

    WOW!!!

I've been collecting parts for my early Caddy, for quite awhile. Adjustable rockers are at the top of the list.

Originally I was building an extended bell 331. However, a 390 showed up about a year ago, so now I have to find a different trans. adapter. Seem to remember seeing one that adapted a Chevy bell housing, starter and flywheel, but can't remember what the company was???

It wasn't Wilcap, or Bendtsen's. Although Bendtsen's automatic adapter kit looks similar to what I'm thinking of.

Thought it was Quick Time, but that doesn't look right, either.

It adapted a Muncie 4 speed, a T-10, or a Super T-10 by using a Chevy bell housing. A 168 tooth,Chevy V8 stick flywheel was also used. This was with a spacer between the Caddy crankshaft flange, and the Chevy flywheel. Since a Chevy V8 bell housing, or scattershield, (Lakewood, etc.), was used, along with a 168 tooth Chevy flywheel, a Chevy bell housing mount starter could be used.....As long as the bell housing was designed for this type of starter mounting.

  17. From what I understand the rocker shafts do differ...I only say this because I was under the impression that 390 shaft was longer due to rocker spacing in accordance with larger diameter valves on the later motors. Sorry this doesn't really help with your original question though.

  18. Out of interest, having had the chance to go through some old magazines over Christmas I noticed an old drag car running a large 414 cubic inch Cad motor. This is the same size motor as the one my injection set up was originally installed on. Does anyone know if this was a size resulting from known hop up tricks/ parts combinations in the day, or possibly race class restriction? Curious as it seems too coincidental to run across two 414ci Cad motors.
    Thanks.

a 4.060 bore with a 4" stroke works out to 416 CID. Not a stretch since the factory stroke was 3.8750. Not sure if that was their combo though. Just an observation.

Found me some sweet valve covers at a swap meet yesterday. The only markings I see are a nn44 inside them. Anyone with information on the makers? 20200209_125200.jpg

Awesome thanks guys. I really like them and compared to how much people ask for elderbrock covers I think I got a fare deal.

Can anyone confirm this is for a 365-390 ? I don’t have an original distributor to compare it to. Thanks 3FFFA8FF-862D-44BF-B573-235F174DF018.jpeg
