Do the wheel sprockets 'float' a few degrees off perpendicular? This would seem reasonable with a bit of rubber cushion employed. Just a thought . . .

What you're missing is the quarter eliptic springs. You can see the u-bolt and top leaf just under the white brake (?) cable. Even at that, I suspect it is sprung pretty stiff and doesn't allow a lot of axle movement. Also it has a narrow rear track width and the sprocket isn't too far off center. All that goes a long way to help reduce the articulation of the sprocket.

  3. That looks like a San Jose number, just a wee bit south of me. Should you need an extra set of eyes, let me know and I will scoot on down.

Ok, I see it now, thought that was just an extention of the frame.

Hi fur biscuit he cant possibly have thT engine it's in the uk I have been sent a pic of it in it's new home a sun motorbike
There is some evidence this guy has answered wanted ads before and sent pics he has found by google search so beware not everyone is a nice chap
ThAt chain driven device is vitally all Austin 7 based even the rear radius arms are a copped up front axle very interesting car I think as you say keep the suspension stiff and the chain should stay on despite the roll of the car trying to twist the chAin

Not really a cycle car but I thought it would appeal to you. The single cylinder Sizaire Naudin - so glad to finally see one in the flesh - although sadly not running...

And some nice St. Andrew's bond behind it: something one doesn't see every day either.

You certainly have my attention Stefan ... where taken*, and on what occasion, please?
This voiturette/small car was, so far as I am able to establish, a made up representation (or even "replica", if you like) of one of the three 100x240 race cars, employing a genuine/original engine - most likely the only one remaining - and very likely a fair proportion of bits from road-going Sizaires: all of that courtesy of M. Boutet Snr/Depanoto. Still & all, b****y impressive.
Now if it were to fall into the right hands (no, not mine - it's well out of my financial league..) wouldn't it be a real spectacle!

*Just answered my own question by checking out your flickr shots: what a gathering!!!

Oooooooo lovely :) Don't worry nobody is going to debate whether a Sizaire Naudin is a cyclecar or not.

  13. Hey, no point letting this goober slide. There was a cat over on your island that pulled that same stunt. I called the cozzers and gave them a full rundown...not that they did anything about.

A bit OT, but after looking these great racers done then and now, is there a good pictorial book or magazine ever made on these? These cars look just fantastic!!!

    Jappic update ,

    Home from holiday ,

Found a gearbox and set of front hubs , should arrive in the next week or so , from a friend not dodgy Internet crook ,
Got a lot done on the chassis cut both sides to length fitted front and rear cross members temporarily screwed in ,

Sorry to tease you pics later ,

Finished most of the drawings for the spring mounts , back to school Monday so can get them all laser cut out of 3 mm mdf to try out before committing to metal and paying money to the local water jet cutting bloke
