Here's an update from Paul Rogers Engineering on the restoration of KimII. They are working out the details and construction of the twin magneto drive...

Looks to be a Henderson motor.
I am curious about the number on the green tag too! Super cool!

    Hi Mike,

I'm with you! This is one of my subscribed threads that I read every day. I'm not nearly as active on the HAMB as I used to be, but I read this thread every day - there's some sort of draw for it.

I too would like to build some sort of reverse trike using semi-modern components for major pieces/parts. That doesn't mean I can't appreciate those who pursue the more historically accurate versions!!

Keep us in the loop, Mike.

    av8,

Take a look at <http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/3WheelerReplicas/?yguid=324350294> . They seem to be a good lot and they lean toward Morgan inspired vehicles. They combine new builds with the old feeling.

I think the the tag just said Henderson but no price listed, it wasn't too far from the guy on here with the Chev. speedster maybe he knows more about it.

When it comes time to ad some hop-up to the GL powerplant, check out Randakk's Cycle Shack for specialty carb parts, intakes, SUPERCHARGERS....that's right, a blown 'Wing! He's nuts over early 1000, 1100, 500, 650 GL's and now CBX and 750 stuff is starting to emerge! Definitely keep them in mind.

(No, I'm not Randakk, nor do I work for them! But I do have a GL1100...cafe!)

    Doodlrodz--

I built the car in your pix over 30 years ago and last year sold it to Tom Morrow. It is my avatar. Tom told me that he lurks here infrequently. I'll give him a call, and see if he has any info.

    Bob--

See anything wrong with this image?

The rings of holes each have 12 holes! The idea behind this "vernier" mag coupling is that one ring has one more hole than the other so that a fine adjustment of timing can be made, by slightly rotating one of the two parts relative to its mate, and the washer with the pin on its rear side drop into the next set of aligned holes.

If one set had 12 holes (as in the drawing) and the other had 13, moving the pin would give a 2.3 degree change in timing.

Lazy draftsman sometime in the past!!!!

The link fell off, for some reason. Here it is: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/3WheelerReplicas/?yguid=324350294

Interesting; this one has a definite appeal:

    RE-

Tom was of no help, he said that he spent most of his time at his spot selling, including my old car, which went to a new owner.

My son remembers looking at the above chassis, doesn't remember the price, but does remember it was ridiculous.

Sorry all. I didn't know that I'm not able to post an internet link here. I was trying to point to the Yahoo Group </http:>"3WheelerReplicas".

Herb, I saw it too, and have been trying to remember. But last week is just a scramble of memories.

A particularly beautiful example of the more serious sort of cyclecar-plus.

(That opinion has nothing to do with the colour scheme, compared to my avatar ...)

Interesting it has no front brakes, I wouldn't like to stop this fast car without front brakes

It seems there are a lot of c6 amilcars going to the vintage revival in France next year , but only one chater lea or jappic

I was debating with myself whether or not to remark that I'd prefer some front brakes.

For some reason I remember it being 11k...I could be way wrong there but I recall it having a little tag on the steering wheel.

Regarding the bare metal Amilcar,I wonder if it is just a picture set up just before final paint. That they left the brakes off for the picture ,then will install them after the paint? just a thought.

Herb, Your speedster was a neat little car, I looked it over briefly there but didn't know it was for sale, maybe it was already sold so there wasn't a sign on it.

[IMG]I gave that chassis a quick look, a collection of parts that were never finished IMO. Four Harley Star hub wheels, a Henderson 4 with the transmission cut off it and a driveshaft yoke attached to the crank. Now for the funny part, the rear axle was chain drive from the center, Vintage car or motorcycle trike, I don't know. The seller always has high end items, and high prices. If this was at $11,000I think it was a bit overpriced. Bob

No Bob--that's the way the car is.

One of my sons knows the owner well, through vintage bikes (Douglas dirt trackers), and he has visited here several times. Very nice guy. I have a print of a side view of the car--taken by the owner, not the professional photographer that did the stunning black background shot--but my son isn't sure that the owner wants it on the web.

I'll see if my son is comfortable with my posting a few details about the car.
