    definitely cant afford to buy and restore a genuine Cyclecar,
    but i`m seriously thinking about building my own "vintage styled" version :rolleyes:

    after looking at a gazillion pics i think the "airplane fuselage" Sandford cars are very inspiring.
    (i love vintage airplanes ... actually i love everything made out of aluminum & lots of rivets :cool:)

    i also like this `29 Speedster ;

    [IMG]

    so i used that pic to "photoshop" my vision of a "modern" Sandford trike;

    [IMG]

    i`m thinking to use a newer shaft driven V-twin Bike as driveline donor
    something like a Vulcan 1500 or similar (sorry, not very HAMB friendly :rolleyes: ... but cheap, powerful and reliable)

    i guess a model A grille shell & headlights would be a good starting point
    and i could shape the rest of the aluminum body to match....

    what do you guys think about this ???

    Earlier T she'll would likely be a better fit (shorter and narrower, if you get the right one ;) ).

    Rendering looks good. :)

    thanks Bob

    i like the "L`Avion de la Route" (the airplane of the street) :cool:

    love the chopped look, but how could you enter the car with the top up :confused: :p

    after figuring out the basic chassis dimensions i think the 22.5" wide and 29" tall Model A shell will be a perfect match.
    this gives me plenty of underhood room to hide a tall V-twin and its radiator
    the seating position will be a little higher then in a Morgan (to clear the driveshaft) , so i think a taller hood will not look out of place

    btw
    here is another photoshop of how i roughly envision the driveline (left front tire missing for clarity):

    [IMG]

    however, i think i will set the engine back a little more between the drivers feet.

    There does seem to be provision for axle motion, so presumably there are springs of some sort.

    Love the extreme drop on that front axle. It looks like there are semi-elliptic springs hidden under the sheetmetal on the front of the chassis and the rear has slots for the axle to move vertically. Seems like they did a lot to streamline and fair in all the running gear. Neat little car.

    It's called the Razorblade.1926 Panhard. There is even a model of it. I think Old dodge has the right idea about the springs. This car went 214 kmh at Montlhery.

    Here's a neat front suspension setup I came across while searching the web.

    Pretty but not that clever: the narrow spring base requires a lot of spring rate for the amount of roll stiffness it gives, and moreover creates a large bending moment in the portion of axle between the spring attachment points. In other words, expect an unnecessarily heavy axle, and either a harsh ride or tail-happy handling.

    I agree on that. it should be about where the rear edge of that grill shell sits.

    That is patina. The appearance that the remaining half of something has just been dug out of a swamp is not patina.

    I agree with you 100%. Some of the trash people call patina is crazy.

    My friend Mark (6'6") and my friend Joe (5'7") testing the AR's seating position and pedal layout. I'm building the car for myself, but enjoy the challenge of making it operable for others the way a production car designer would.
