Thats not an engine in a car.

Stefan( http://stefanmarjoram.com/ )is well connected with the old car scene in the UK.He is currently working with the folks doing the Bloodhound land speed car( http://www.bloodhoundssc.com/ )and is doing art and video for them.He also knows the gent who owns the Fiat, who also owns the car in my avatar.I can tell you that when they say there will be a movie, there WILL be a movie. It won't be years from now either.

    Hello,
    From Internet:

"This automobile-monster was constructed in 1911 by FIAT specifically to beat the land speed record held at that time by Blitzen-Benz. Its engine pumped out 28.5-liters of displacement and provided 290-horsepower... In 1911, Pietro Bordino drove it on the circuit of Brooklands and on the beach in Saltburn to achieve 200 kilometers per hour. In 1912, the Frenchman Arthur Duray on the straight of Ostend found a top speed of 225 kilometers per hour but that record, for irregularities of the recording, was not made official.

Only two were built. One was destroyed by factory, and the second finished in Australia! (maybe only chassis)

Project of reconstruction was magnificent too.... Engine was probably made of parts from two engines and many built new. Re-creation of engine and entire automobile was done by big team, run by engineers Duncan, Bruce and Tucker, at Duncan Pittaway and Co., from Southwestern England. Project was memorized (photos and films) by famous motoring journalist, photograph and artist - Stefan Marjoram of Lower Langford, North Somerset, England.
    "

    Ciao,
    Zoran

Doug, that was one of the suggestions. A guy could build the bed with a tilt feature. All you would have to do is to drive up to the hole and tilt the bed......

Floyd Clymer automobile scrapbooks from the 1940s and 50s.
There are 8 of them total I believe.
I have seen them on ebay.
