It sounds like Bob has contact with Jake Challenger. I'll put you in touch tonight.

    Thanks, Banjeaux!

Heh, the pic you originally posted of that is the only one that makes it look nice.

Don't let any of those articles or other pictures change your impression of what you saw.I think most of the problems could be worked out of poor engineering.

    Bob,
Great photo as ever, but I was wondering what this hat over strange car could be! Answer: that wasn't cycle-car, not even velocar - but AIRPLANE! That was the wing!

Before he managed to attack American potential future enemies: Germany, Italy and Japan - he managed to burned vehicle totally in front of spectators - and survived! It seems to me that he was of Greek origins?

However, if he was a little more modest, such vehicle could be good velocar (pedal-powered car, with or without engine). Today, such "hat" could be modified to solar-panels for electric propulsion?
    Ciao,

    Text from Internet:
Constantinos Vlachos in his “Tri-phibian” - a craft which, the inventor claimed, could navigate through air, water, and on land. It caught fire during a public demonstration outside the Library of Congress in 1935 - Vlachos was dragged from the craft by a policeman and spent nine months recovering in hospital.
Jeffrey High, a photographer, came across Vlachos in Washington in 1985:
“He would sit outside in this chair and honk an old bicycle horn every time a car passed, hoping to generate traffic into his…musuem I guess. Mr. Vlachos was an inventor who invented a flying car, and an engineless car, among other things. His inventions never came to fruition, as far as I know… but I spent well over 2 hours with him that day and the passion still burned within him. I can still feel his grip on my arm as he told me of his life.”

    Nobo,
Not any problem - people built similar vehicles with smoky engines!

Another period example of "fats & skinnies", as opposed to bigs & littles. The front and rear tyres seem similar in overall diameter, though the rears are clearly fatter, and fitted to rims of smaller diameter.
