    Hello Herb,
That's my pleasure and privilage to be in company with so many nice persons and a few creative builders of cycle-cars and other light motorised vehicles! It is nice affair to search around and post here achievements of successful builders, or owners of interesting small cars (big, too)...
I could never assume that there would be so much people interested in cycle-cars and their something bigger cousins: magnificent sport/racing automobiles in a class of 1100 cc, mostly French... or British specials for road and track, or anything cute and attractive!

    Regards,
    Zoran

P.S.: My imagination is strong (and very old), but my achievements are modest: one motto-camper, a pair of kid-cars (one is my avatar) and pedal-powered quadricycle for two of us, seniors... Maybe one day that caterpillar (quadricycle) would became nice butterfly (replica of motorised cycle-car)...

I don't recall ever seeing any 3 wheel racer 500 over here, 3 wheel construction is more of a Brit thing. The front wheels are definitely Renault 4cv which is pretty stupid with their tendency of bending under side load. The steering wheel appears to be a very early 4cv type, so we can assume like you said that the whole front is from a Renault 4cv.

    Chris,
You must be right, but maybe that was just a prototype, unseccful attempt to start new formula?

A few parts of discussion on one forum...

    Gerard Gaman:

"In 1960, the french magazine "l'Automobile" created a movement called "Mouvement Course 500-3".
The subject was to promoted a 3 wheels 500cc formula... Here a pic of one of the very first attempt : It was the 3 wheels, built by Mr Soldé of Prunay-sous-Ablis. He start from a BMW R51 with a front end of a 4cv Renault..."
    Bonde:
"I think the '500-3' concept is a case of taking an ideology one step too far.
According to Francois Jolly's delightful little Editions du Palmier book, "L'épopée francaise des 'Racers 500' ", the '500-3 movement' was instigated by the magazine 'L'Automobile' in about 1959 in an attempt to recreate the spirit of the original 500cc F3 movement. Of course the 500-3 cars lacked the fourth wheel of even most primitive cyclecars of pre-WWI and the 1920s, and handling was poor compared to a genuine 500cc F3; there's even a picture of Terigi overturning in Casablanca to prove the point."
    Gerard Gaman:
"This is an other trying : Roger Sceaux, with a Simca 5 front and an BSA Goldstar engine of 1952, with 32 bhp behind! I like the gentleman behind the wheel !!"

It seems that there were some other attempts in the same direction?

Thanks, I learned something today I never seen or heard about these deadly contraptions. This concept could be viable if it could lean.
Again the 4cv wheels on something that's suppose to go fast : really scary, when they were already folding under stock 4cv's...

I THINK David has a block on copying from his site as he pays for many of his pictures. There's always something worth looking at there, I need to visit his shop.

    Hello,
I hope that nobody should be angry for "stealing" videos, from new veteran racing class “S.F. Edge Trophy” - “Edwardian racing specials of a type that raced up to 1923”:

If we can't have a ride, maybe to enjoy in ride of other happy and jolly people, in magnificent aero-engined monsters?

Zoran, to me going to watch them run would be an excellent reason to go to England. Maybe the only reason.

    Bob,
Nice period-photo of proud family and thier "wheels", like a few more on recent pages!
Glossy photos from museums, oldtimer shows and auctions are wonderful, but such old originals are with more spirit and real atmoshpere (for me). Better illustration of bygone era?

    Ciao,
    Zoran

    Nobo,
Quite right – visit England just to see in real such monsters, hear the noise of engines, to feel a smell of burning gasoline, oil and tyres, with vibration of ground!
    --- ---
Then – to visit as much as possible classic-car sprints and races, hill-climbs and trials... Then, some museums (automobile and aviation history), of courese - rest part of Brooklands race-track... Take a cruise on canal narrow-boats... and, to see wild Atlantic from high cliffs! Of course, try to drive on “the wrong side of a road”... In meantime visit London to Brighton Rally for pre-1905 automobiles.
And, of course – to see once more aero-engined and other Edwardian monsters!

    Modest wishes?
    (old ½ century)
