  5. They're all nice... but the Mercedes is supercharged and less than half the price of the FN :D

I suspect that those Mercedes suffered much the same fate of contemporary and very comparable Speed Six Bentleys. Much as I'd rather have the often very interesting coachwork first fitted to 6½s than yet another Le Mans replica, just so I'd much rather have a tasteful 36/220 than yet another SSK replica.

By curious coincidence I happened quite independently upon Odgie's website around the same time you guys had this conversation. I remember Odgie from the defunct AWoL motorbike magazine. Unless a lot has changed he and I have some overlap in our political views; I was not aware that he was into small specials too!

    Hello there,
As you guys took all interesting sport cars, I must take one of boring Mercedes with compressor! Just to find two more p***engers beside my wife and me... Then, to cruise across Bern and around - and enjoy in frightening people with screaming of centrifugal compressor (clutched at will, for a few seconds) driving that fast lorry!

However, it seems to me that most of them (with and without photos) were consider just as old cars, and not cl***ic cult automobiles as now? They prices are mostly in a range of new small British cars in cl*** of 7-8 fiscal HP?

Similar was in Serbia, before I come here (for a few decades). Older magnificent sport or p***enger cars, could be sold for less money then a price new YUGO! But there was a catch-22: maintenance were expensive, rare parts and special workshops – hard to use them for everyday transport and not so old to became cl***ics! That way I cheaply bought good Mercedes-Benz 190 2.3 16 valves (Cosworth engine and sport gearbox, air-condition, leather seats, many instruments, star-light at top...), with hydro-pneumatic rear leveling... Once, I pull 1 tone of parts for elevators in rear trunk without problems (smaller part of that on rear seat) – for 400 kilometers... Mast sold it later – no money to keep it in good condition! After that, it changed many owners, every ½ a year... After that I bought YUGO – terrible change but practical!
So – maybe one good-running Austin-7 or MG M-type, if possible with sport body?

Any chain-gang experts out there? How many prewar FN's were fitted with BMW engines.? According to Thirlby only one FN was fitted with the 55 BMW engine (ch***is no.2165) in Feb 1939 but the ad posted by Bob is dated Nov 38.
