And today, was there a couple of weeks ago-

 

Another instance of "fats and skinnies" on the #7 car in the foreground.

I love the way the outdoor spatial form-giving was clearly informed by pre-automotive urban traditions. It looks like an English market town.

 

It looks a little like the finishing straight @ Brooklands (but isn't). What threw me is that I don't remember Dunlop or Mobiloil hoardings at Montlhery. It was usually Yacco in period. A photo search did find a Mobiloil banner and a few Dunlop banners in the prewar period.

 

It IS at Linas-Montlhery.

Bob, The link you posted above mentioned Bugatti powered Midgets. This is the Caruso Brescia Bugatti car that ran out of Long Island, New York. Bob

The Brescia head, like most Bugattis, wasn't detachable. The right side held the intake & cooling:

 

Thank you SR100, Caruso did cut Bugatti eight cylinder engines in half to make fours, so may be that explains the exhaust locations. Photo shows a Type 37A. Bob

 

The SOHC Bugatti 8s had two 4cyl blocks on one crankcase. Several T37 replicas have been built out of half a T44 or T46.

I'm envious! What is the town like when there isn't a motoring event happening?

 

I've spent many family holidays based there. It's very pleasant and laid back. Lots to do in the area, only 30 miles from Cognac.

The main market in the town is well worth a visit and we bought all our food there during the race week.
