  5. This is our version of a cycle car(t). The first 20 seconds is my granddaughter on her first hot rod, I had it lettered and pinstriped by a HAMBer. The next part of the clip is her first time in gravel several weeks back ... she's 14 now.

Has she started asking for more power in that kart yet?

Not a Darmont. I'd guess a home built. I had that same left headlight problem. Rim and bulb fell out onto the pavement. Went back to retrieve it but a truck had run over it.

I screen captured that pic from a youtube of this year's Grand Prix Retro in Puy Notre Dame, France. YouTube channel: "Albumeinvista Video". Fun viewing

Fred, I'm curious why you don't think its a Darmont. I thought it was rebodied, but digging deeper, it appears to be a c.1935 Aérolux:

I must confess, my first clue was the passenger's Darmont shirt...

You got me there. I have never seen a Darmont with that kind of grill. All I've seen had the narrow radiator V twin. I didn't even know they made a 4 banger.

Thanks for digging that up, SR100. That `33-4 Ford-ish grille speaks to many of us Yankees

I hadn't seen any reference to one before either, that's why I assumed it was modified. When I saw the Aérolux pic, I also thought it was a four, but the site where I found the pic said it was a 1089cc water-cooled twin. Which begs the question: Is the site wrong or was Darmont trying to make their twin look like a four?

I looked up Darmont in the Beaulieu Encyclopedia of the Automobile. It said that all Darmonts were powered by Blackburne engines built under license.

    Hello,
Nice travel trough time in a short film!
The first shots promised daredevil driver and the last prooved that!
Could that be one of the now-famous CycleKarts, some fifteen years ago "invented" by Pete Stevenson, his family and friends? The first nest of those buzzing little scaled-down racers was California, then Texas and now there could be found all over the World!

    Hello,
Does anybody know if Russian motorcycle URAL (or Ukraninina Dnieper) with sidecar and power on both the rear-wheel and the sidecar wheel - have reverse? Older model, with destroyed engines, could be found cheaply, especially in Europe. Last time, but with a good motor, I found one by some chance in Slovenia, Europe.

Or this boxer motor with gearbox for BMW 600, big Isetta, for around 1000 Euros, less in $$$$...
    https://www.njuskalo.hr/oldtimer-dijelovi/motor-bmw-isetta-600ccm-oglas-20205331

Or this Moto-Guzzi 500, motor and gearbox for heavy three-wheeler (must have reverse?), for around 820 Euros, less in $$$...

Or this gearbox for Isetta 250/300, for around 670 Euros, less in $$$...

All three are in Croatia, Europe! Of course, for light, low-powered, slow-speed cyclecar!
Some of that would be good for me and my old dream about self-built cyclecar (not this time), but not so for the people across oceans...

    Ciao,
    Zoran

What about a Harley Servi-car? They are quit expensive these days. Also I think there is an aftermarket reverse gear for Harley bikes but you loose 4th gear to install it.

... so, as I like motoring mysteris, I search a little about shown masterpiece, the most minimalistic coupés that I saw until now!
(from strange and irracional reasons, I started to like small coupés)
This one is not so small by general dimensions, but the cockpit is small for sure!

It is a replica of Maserati A6G CS 1947, made by Ito Dellepiane. It has a BMW engine, 6 cylinders, 2 Litre, with three 40/40 Webers, 4-speed gearbox, hand-made aluminium body, 4 wheel disk-brakes and independent suspension all around...

Not much of original, but wonderfully made!
It was for sale for £42,000.00!

This was original at the race!

... and this one with the original motor:

... and, this one at shows:
[IMG] Maserati, spider monofaro, replica (1).jpg Maserati, spider monofaro, replica (2).jpg Maserati, spider monofaro, replica (3).jpg Maserati, spider monofaro, replica (4).jpg Maserati, spider monofaro, replica (5).jpg Maserati, spider monofaro, replica (6).jpg Maserati-Dellepiane, monofaro, replica (0a).jpg Maserati-Dellepiane, monofaro, replica (0b).jpg Maserati-Dellepiane, monofaro, replica (1).jpg Maserati-Dellepiane, monofaro, replica (2).jpg Maserati-Dellepiane, monofaro, replica (3).jpg Maserati-Dellepiane, monofaro, replica (5).jpg Maserati-Dellepiane, monofaro, replica (6).jpg

It seems that there are more replicas, but mostly made as spiders, that looks more-or-less as originals!
    Ciao, Zoran

It seems that by the mid '30's the 3 wheeler was going out of style all over. The brits alao dropped the tax advantage so it was 4 wheels or die.

Zoran, that is a really nice coupe; needs a lot of work for that price.

    Possibly the Wheel Horse garden tractor transmission shown might lend itself to a cycle car;
it features 3 forward speeds and reverse each in two gears Hi and Low. It is robust and has a differential with 1-1/8 dia. axles. However, gears cannot be changed on the fly. Just saying.
