After looking at the build thread....I do recall this car. It's probably posted years back in this thread. B7451D0E-789F-47AB-9DCD-57C6349CDD8B.jpeg

fredvv44: you mentioned BSA; I knew nothing about their cars but recently came across this BSA Scout. 21 Nov 1937 there was a reliability trial for women drivers in Sydney, Oz. (Photos by Alec Iverson; creators Australian Consolidated Press and Consolidated Press; State Library of New South Wales) Nice-looking car SLNSW_FL19136219.jpg SLNSW_FL19136222.jpg

I also liked the 1935-1937 Ford CX roadster that was participating in the reliability trial [second car from the front, number plate 224-485]. These roadsters were Australian-built, not available in the UK. The CX is flanked by four Morris 8/40's (I think that's what they are). The Sandford was a nice 3 wheeler. I didn't know they offered it with a twin.

Hmm. Riley had twin cams in the block, as I understand it. Just this week I had a look at a Lotus 23 engine. It used a Ford 1600cc? block (same as used for the Kent crossflow head) and the Lotus twin cam head. Lotus tapped some of the lifter holes and then plugged them. I assume to control oil flow back to the pan. Interesting stuff.

Banjeaux bob: thanks; I did look at a bit of the article (will read it all) and saw that it was Peter Whitehead, not that I know much about him. Here I was thinking that the ERA might have been imported by an Australian racer and then maybe 'lost' here somewhere in the passing years, waiting to be found.

(The primotipo site looks very interesting; I first saw the site several weeks ago when it was linked to a Hudson/Terraplane racer 'special'.)

That Amilcar C Cab : I love it. I came accross a De Dion Bouton "delivery truck" once 30 years ago but the guy wanted to sell it as a package only as a donor to restore the De Dion sedan he had for sell. I'm a sucker for utes.

Something reminded me of this photo that I had put on the roadster pickup thread ... 'A 1924 Austin 7 utility' - State Library of Western Australia; slwa_b1921531_1; O12659PD slwa_b1921531_1.jpg
