1907 Peking-Paris Contal (this cyclecar ran out of fuel somewhere in the Gobi desert . . . and is still there, waiting to be found!) MotottriArticle2_7.jpg

The photo is of a KR200 Roadster (conversion) Early “eagle badge” models were only available with a bubble top. The only Roadster model with an eagle badge is a factory built 1957-58 KR201. Many cars were converted to either a roadster or a cabriolet when replacement bubble tops were not available. ( they are readily available now although pricey)

I can't imagine doing that race in that 3 wheeler. If it were to be found it would be in perfect condition.

There's a good reason why the guy in front was called the Monkey.

"Between 1919 and 1920 a small number of cyclecars to various designs were manufacutured by Black Prince Motors of Barnard Castle. Powered by a 2.75 Union air-cooled petrol engine the transmission was via two-speed belt drive to the rear axle. The wooden body was so flexible that it provided the primary suspension for the cyclecar! Other types were produced but the marque ended with the suicide of one of the projects originators."

That would have been quite a trip in 1911.

I wonder how many chains they went through on the dirt roads.

"In a publicity stunt with full media coverage, Kelsey had a Motorette tow a 5,700-pound Alco truck through the streets of Philadelphia. He pressed cars into service during a blizzard to deliver local newspapers. In another highly publicized stunt, he sent two drivers on a coast to coast run with only one incident – three days in the jail at Ludlow, California for driving on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe railroad bed across the Mojave Desert."

I wish it had its own thread. How close is it to being finished?

It's all about the funds at this point. Springs, shocks, front brakes, electrical, driveshaft and professional upholstery. And a few other things like head pipes and mufflers and some fuel system parts. Can't do the self funding anymore.
I do have a Instagram that has more detail pics. ottocyclespdx.instagram

It looks very much like the 2012 Morgan. How did you deal with the drive train?
