I would like to know what I should be looking for. As far as best years of cadillac, nailhead, olds etc. I have found a cadillac and a couple of nailheads but I have to go look at them to verify them being legit. I just want to know a little more about what years and sizes are the best so I don't buy a "one off". Thanks

Funny thing is someone plumbed one of the nailheads into a 64 impala complete with the "dynasomething" tranny!

That would be Dynaflush or Dynaslow tranny. Depending on year and model of course. Not to be confused with the Dinah Shore. Now there's a 1-off! [IMG]

The Dinah-Shore was GM's Chevrolet model.

For the most part, everything crested in 1970, so you may have to be more specific with what you are looking for.

The Nailheads only went to 1966, according to my source, so that year would have the most power, depending on displacement.

depends on what its going in too! if a light car you could go with a smaller cubic inch, and save some cash.or if you want a larger one ill say 59-64 394 olds would be a good pick.62-64 being slightly more powerfull.or id go with a later 425 nailhead like someone else mentioned.

The best nailheads are the 401/425s in '65 & '66 due to the "Switch Pitch" Turbo 400 trans that is almost bulletproof. The 1964 is a close second...the trans is a TH400 (Buick called it a Super Turbine 400), but is not a variable pitch, and the selector goes PRNDL versus PRNDD²L. Shift kits for the '64 are rare. Happy motoring, Frank
