Hmm, a voice of reason in this land of "Geez, the H.A.M.B. is the greatest thing since electric eye balls". Actually, I find the site quite interesting even if there's a lot that doesn't grab and draw me in. I understand the premise / mission of it and don't find the need to buck the system. I can only speak to my deleted post(s) and question the (one) particular moderator's choice to edit and delete. I have to agree with the complaints about photo posting. I enjoy letting my photos be seen and with one notable exception all of the shots I've posted have been mine. I'm not big on seeing things pulled from magazines and books and the photo threads are ripe with those. I'd rather see someone's half assed personal Instamatic photo than something from an article. Whatever the case, the photo threads, along with the Friday Art Show and Sunday Models are what keep me checking in each day.
Have you had the same avatar for 42,000 posts HRP? I think I've switched mine two or three times since I made that one. And by your last statement it sounds like you're arguing, but agreeing at the same time...? There have been time I have reported blatant, off topic posts that had no business being on a vintage hot rod site, but others that I have tried to send a friendly "heads up" to somebody via pm,to let them know their post was kinda off track, and stuff like that tends to draw the wrath of the mods...If it seems like an innocent mistake,it seems like the decent thing to do,rather than going trigger happy on the report button. To answer your first question,I have had many different avatars depending on what car or truck that was my favorite at the time. As for your observation,in discussions like this people often read and perceive a post as counterintuitive. I only report flagrant off topic late models & rodent rods or unnecessary stupidity, like spam. HRP
