Instead of one bumper going from one side to the other, why don't you split it in the middle, make a mount off the back of the two pieces to mount the plate in between the two pieces of "bumper", that way it looks like it's floating, similar to the floating grilles seen in so many customs. Just a thought. I can see it in my head, but without the use of Photoshop, I can't put it in print. -Aaron
I redid the mockup with the script lowered back to the panel below the tailgate and tried the plate under the box. The tube bumper will block off the new york part of the plate but it looks the best there for sure. I'm dropping off my diagrams to the sheet metal guy today for the tailgate and filler panel. I'm sure he'll try and get me to include some louvers or something but I kind of like it plain.
will do, he called yesterday asking about a couple things on the tailgate so I know he's working on it in the down time I started working on the exhaust http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=434746
Just about ready to weld this in, I need to take the lower panel to a shop to get the script bonded in. I will trim back the bottom sides of the bed to flush with the lower panel so the tailgate will look like a tailgate.
