Hey guy's, was just moving some boxes from one garage to another and found a full, still sealed gallon of PPG DP90LF PRIMER/SEALER, man! it's been 10 years since I shot any DP90, so I'm****uming its got to be at least 10 years old and left over from my last roadster project, when I shake the can you can still feel and hear the liquid paint inside, since I will be needing some DP primer/sealer in a few months for my bare metal stepped frame and other bare parts on my T roadster pick up, I'm thinking this might still be good, WHAT do you Painters Think? Can I still purchase hardening activator and thinner that is compatible with this early DP90? If so can you tell me what is should ask for at the body shop supply/paint store? BTW, I will take the gallon with me to the paint store and have put it in their shaker for a while before I open the can to 2016 air, LOL.
I have used DP90 that is at least 10 years old, but not on finish panels. In my opinion, it will get the job done on any inner hidden areas, frames, wheels, axles, brackets, etc. It could work out OK but why chance ruining a paint job or causing yourself more work because of an incompatibility issue from old/expired products. I have been using DP402LF Epoxy Catalyst that is just as old and haven't experienced any problems on my axles, suspension pieces, etc. I'm sure you will find uses for it. Good luck!
Good to know. Found a quart of DP90 & the activator my self here recently. It's old, real old. Might try it on some oddball project JFTHOI. Anyone got the mix ratio handy?
2 DP90 to1 catalyst(701 or 702) + 1 medium reducer (or less) to use it as a sealer. Don't use the old catalyst
