Glad you found out what you needed to know. I knew Bob would sort it out, good or bad. At least now everybody knows for sure where they come from. And for the record, I don't think you were nit picking or *****ing. There's nothing wrong with making sure you're buying quality American made parts.

I have bought a set of lifters for a 392 from PAW. They came in a 'SSI' logo'd box. The lifters appear also to be exactly the same on the outside as shown in the beginning of the topic (same groove width and such). Can take pics if you want.
I'm also willing to believe that these are the exact same lifters as used in later bigblock Mopar motors up to '64, when they changed the lifter's pushrod cup into the wider version.

Hee, I know they're not made in the USA, they are made in America (South America).

There were a ton of similar lifters for Mopars. The key is the oil groove location, I believe you are right about '64. I'll have to go back and look at the sheets as to the actual makes/models.

scooter, I have avoided joining this thread for obvious reasons, but if PITTED parts like this are 'made in America' then we are in very deep trouble.

If anyone needs "made in USA' parts, let me know.

That looks like the same kind of packaging that Harbor Freight uses !
Well we know where they are from .

It's a shame , but they can't be worth too much if the Manufacture is afraid to put their name on the box . Get name brand to be safe .

Yep! Not pitted... just the way the light is hitting the oil residue.

All I can do is p***-on what Bob says guys. He says they're made in America. The guy Eric confirmed the company I mentioned earlier in the thread (Engine Tech), but didn't have anymore info as to who the actual maker was of the lifters. I definitely tried for that info, since I had them on the phone. Not much more I can tell you about them at this point.

This thread is getting kind of crazy... apparently it's getting "swayze crazy"! HAHA! And I'm hungry for fondue now... :D

I've had several dealings with HHH. The first being my 340 HV oil pump conversion for my 241 Dodge Hemi. The shaft fractured in half. I called Bob and he said I must have done somethng wrong..Well, I took the shaft to several machinists and they said the shaft was not radiused at the step-down, 90 degree cut..I had to get another one at my expense and have it radiused. No problems now and I believe now thay come radiused..
As for lifters, I used AMC lifters, in my 241. I dn't know if they will fit a 392..

Here is a picture of the oil pump..Also, many hours to get the new shaft to align so it wouldn't bind..

I wouldnt take a chance. You got to have alot of money in your motor already. If they were made here they would have a name on the box,Wouldnt you put your name on your product unless you didnt want anybody to know it was cheap chinese ****.I would buy real ones in the U.S.A. and you will sleep better. You are already worried about it,wait till you go on a long trip it will always be in the back of your head, every click and clack will make you paranoid.Remember to you will be buying another cam too when them lifters get smoked.

Wow! Do I know you??? You seem to know ME pretty well!!:rolleyes::D I get freaked out on the smallest of noises, if I can't figure them out. That's a lot of the reason I question things like I do.

Sad stories above. Unfortunately, I've heard a LOT of those kind of stories lately. Especially oil pump conversions.

On a side note (and not to get off on a tangent), TR Waters is coming up with a better adapter for oil pumps. Sounds like it will really work well. He's going to keep me posted on it. If you want to learn more about it, go the Hemi Index and click on the oil pump section. You will see the thread I started on oil pumps where the conversion pros and cons are discussed as well as TR Waters input.

"Your lifters were made WHERE?" -not Patrick Swayze

  20. I agree with Retro Jim.

The cardboard box looks Chinesy (rhymes with cheesy).

What the heck is a 1/4" lifter?

Dumb as it sounds, what do the lifters smell like?
The oil on Chinese made machinery has a distinct smell different from the oils we use in the US.

I think Bruce said it, I've always heard that there's only three lifter manufacturing outfits in the US and if rumors I hear are right, there's only two right now.

Are there any "crossover" lifters that fit?

Like, SB Mopar lifters drop right in?

  21. A few years back, I stuck a milder cam in the roadsters 462" Buick engine replacing the more radical one.

    A Crower purchased through PAW.
When I asked for the Crower lifters, the PAW guy said, "why not try a set of our Super Stock lifters?"

He commented that there were only three lifter mfg. etc.

So I gave it a try.

The PAW SS lifters looked exactly the same as the Crower lifters I'd bought for the bigger cam.
Not talking measurements here, but those were the same.
What was similar were the casting marks and designs on the cup and internal of the lifter.

Now y'all got me worried about pistons.
Got everything except pistons and rings for the new 462" engine.

Was thinking forged for a 9.5/1 CR or 10.0/1 CR.

Maybe I'll check out the KB hyper-eutectics.
    Pretty sure they're US made....

There are pushrods with 5/16" and 1/4" ends. I have 1/4" ends on my pushrods.

Hmmmm.... I don't have the best sense of smell in the world. Not sure about the smell. They sure don't smell like the pizza I'm dreaming of right now, though. When I get a chance, I'll take them to a machinist friend of mine around the corner and have him take a wif. He'll know right away. He deals with parts made in China and obviously uses machining lubrication from the US all day.
