I have been searching for a thread on lifting a body with an engine crane, I know I saw it on here a while ago, but you know one day becomes a week...

from memory the pics showed lifting a body of a 40? pickup into place with an engine crane, anyone remember??

Of course I told my old man about it and now I can find it, done a search and gone back to mid last month, anyone remember

    Thanks

  2. Do a search for Denise's tech list.

It may be in there and if not it's mentioned about 5-6 posts down and there's an address supplied.

I did it while building my '41 Willys.

  6. Cool - use the upholstery material for padding the slings and then use it for the upholstery.... [IMG]

    bdrake,

Yep, that was the one! Thanks to all, should be able to come up with something that works.

What I was wondering is regarding counter weights?? any need, as I would have thought that a body was heavy enough to require a counter weight to be added to the end of the engine crane?

On the car we're working on right now for fleetmaster, I ran a chain diagonally from one body mount hole to another and then we put the hoist in through the door. Now you have to have the doors off to do this, but we can lift just the front or just the back by moving the hook to different links on the chain. Works really well for one guy to work on parts where he doesn't need to take the whole body off.
