Hope you continue to savor your relationship with Lil John. You're both touching so many people with your talents (and Pat ain't chopped liver, either). Thank you all for the education, inspiration and entertainment! Glad to hear John came out better with his brain tumor than my Mom did a couple months ago. It can go either way - must be some reason for that...
Gave me chills reading this. Spent my fair share of time crawling under his cars at events looking at all the hand made stuff and being amazed. Seems llike a great guy to. Godspeed and full recovery John...
He is a legend in my books! Not like some of those who need a TV show to look good.... Hopes and thoughts! Big E
Prayers and best wishes for the man, and his extended family, wishing you all well, Mr & Mrs Drewfus in OZ.
Well, I ain't the prayin' kind......so you've got it John! My respect to ya. Get well...and get back to it...'cos there's no point eatin' that **** hospital food any longer than you have to!
AMEN! Adding my best wishes for a full and speedy recovery as well! Thanks Cole and JJ for keeping us up to date! Tim D.
keep up the good fight lil John and get well soon there's still a bunch of us rookies who need the guiding hand of a master..
Like many others, when I was a teen in the 70's I always looked forward to articles in the car mags about Lil John's latest project. He always thought outside of the box. His T sedan and sweet little A roadster were a couple of my favorites. I was just beginning to learn how to build stuff and his amazing talent and skill inspired me to try harder. I don't know if Lil knows how many people he has influenced, but I for one would like to shake his hand and say thanks. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Mike
I saw him fist fight another "famous" rodder (before most of you were born) and it was one hell of a fight. He wont go down easy.
Cole: A very nice tribute to a terriffic talent.Wishing John a speedy recovery and continued good health.
Wow man, lets all hope one of the best and most innovative out there pulls through well. Any man that can go to Indy with a car built at home is a LEGEND in my book!
Well john here one for ya,and dont throw a bed pan through my comp, eather those guys did it frist ..alleyoop
I can remember reading about Lil John in HotRod while I was waiting for my Dad to get his hair cut at the Barber(he was a hotrodding who always had mags laying around)hope all turns out well--
Its obvious John ****era is an influence to many people. He is on the list of people I’d like to meet some day. Here’s hoping all ends up well…
Well said, thank you! John has always been a hotrodder, he just chose to lead..not follow. As long as I've been building he has always been an inspiration and I wish him well.. Thanks Cole and Jesse for the posts.. CC
John- I had the opportunity to visit your shop waay back in the day - when you were working on McEwen's funny car - while tagging along with Paul Culley one day. The pro stocker you had built for Bob Lambeck was there too, and I was able to give it a good look. I remember being just blown away by the astounding level of craftsmanship and originality your work demonstrated - and that was almost 40 years ago! I've tried to keep up with your work through articles in the car mags over the years, and had a chance to see your latest car at the CHRR last year. Your stuff is still miles ahead of the pack. Thanks for all the inspiration over the years. Here's wishing you a speedy and full recovery. P.S. I'm one of those "whether-you-like-it-or-not-guys" who's praying for you too. You're obviously a very bright fellow, and If you pay attention to what's REALLY going on with this whole deal as it unfolds, you just might find yourself seeing things differently by the time it's over. (-:
John, I never met you, but like so many others it's guys like you that have inspired so very many of us. I just met another inspiring guy last week- - he has/had terminal liver cancer. Doc's gave him 6 months (max) to live.....that was more than a year ago. Not only is THAT inspiring but the best part is that the cancer is GONE. Doc's couldn't understand it - then or now..it's just plain not there anymore. Personally I attribute these stories to the power of positive thinking - will power - stubborness - whatever you want to call it. Keep the good thoughts John - cause we're all pullin' for ya!!!!!
