Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by cole, May 2, 2007.

  1. Happy Memorial Day, glad you are doing well!

  2. Best of everything to ya John......
Doing this car with your son is about the best medicine a father[AND SON].....could ever recieve.
Most of us never take or even get that chance and I am happy for you because you are doing it,especially now....

I personally believe you are responsible for elevating the hotrod world/hobby to a new standard with your innovations and quality workmanship, over the years, noone can argue that point.
I think the HAMB is a better place ,because you registered here....you caught some flack then, took it like a true Hamb'r would and never even blinked.
I meant anything I posted earlier [and I mean this]-you are an asset that we on this board are very lucky to be around.
GET WELL mister! ....we are expecting more from you!

  3. What a great way to start my day!! Hearing your OK and reading your post.I have always Had alotta respect for your work and can't wait to see what comes from a "refreshed" 'Lil John...........good to see ya back!

    John,

I don't know you but I have followed you and your work a long time. Your talent has inspired me, and as I work on my current build it always makes me think of how I can take my Car to a higher level. I always look forward to your "take" on each build you do (so I can steal some ideas!).

You are in mine and my Family's prayers, and I hope everything turns out well-Cars are a passion, but Family and Friends come first. Get well, I need your inspration!

  11. I know you are very highly thought of. It's great to hear you're doing well and that your spirit is up and fighting. May all your previous accomplishments be dwarfed by all those to come as seen through the eyes of new life.
God bless you L'l John Buttera!

Didn't you build a '69 Camaro with your son (silver, I think) in the '80s? That thing sat just right and was so subtle. I'm not a muscle car guy but that car was very well done.

Glad to hear your going to be in the shop again. I cant ever imagine not being able to go out to the shop everyday and build something cool. Stand tough John, I know you are a tough guy, your work has shown that in you for years. Get back where you belong!

One of the things I have done since hearing about John's medical problems is clean out my file drawer. I to was impressed long ago by what he could accomplish with a file. It's led to my obsession for these tools and I can't seem to get enough of them. When I went through them I counted 57, and that's just the ones that have handles on them. I'm sure John could do more with 3 than I can do with my little collection but that's not the point. The point being that I was so impressed by the man that he only had to suggest something and I had to try it for myself. Too bad I don't have a couple more lifetimes because maybe then I might be able to match some of his earlier efforts.
Good to hear of the positive progress John, keep it up and get back out in the shop. I hope someone is recording the build of the '29 as it would make a book by itself. Take care,

    Frank

  24. Great to hear about the progress, both physical, and mental, as our 'perception' on life shapes our future, not just yours, but 'our'.

Your influence over the years has touched many, and with a newfound focus and clarity of vision, I'm sure that you will really 'come out swinging' and do things you never dream't of.

Anyhow, trust that you will look after yourself, and more to the point, not lose the newfound 'vision'.

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:)

    lil john,
i too consider myself very lucky to have found out that i have cancer now, instead of finding out a year or more from now. i got lucky.
dear friends, don't gamble with your precious life. get yourself checked out. if you don't do it for yourself, then do it for the family and friends that love you.
lil john, good luck to you. i know that if character has anything to do with it, you will be just fine.
