    'ello mate!
I figured I would say hi because I'm both a new guy, and have been living in the UK for 10 months. (Suffolk, east anglia)
I'm from California originally, so I am still just a screwwed up Yank. (I won't drink tea unless it has ice in it) :p but I do have grease under my fingernails and gasoline in my veins, so I guess we can still be friends.

Seeing you and some other british guys here is a breath of fresh air, because until now I have only seen "boy racers" in this country, and I just don't see the appeal of an ellaborate body kit on a Pugeot 306...

Maybe you guys can help me find a place to feel at home.

  8. Stay away from the Fast & Retarded kids...Theres a LOT of Hot Rodders in the UK, and some in Suffolk/Norfolk area too...

Welcome from a former Brit, now in California!

Man, your not kiddin'... So you left this rock and ended up in CA?! I lived in Campbell years ago, if that don't make this a small world!

And no worries on my account, I've hated rice-grinders since their beginning.

But that seems to be all that I have seen so far. I recently went to a car show that were billed as representing "Cl***ic American Hot-Rods!" When I got there I saw a few late model mustangs, two new corvettes, a 79 trans-am that was rusted to an inch of it's life, one crown victoria cop car, and one General Lee clone... The rest was european 70s junk.... There was one model-B roadster, but it had a Volvo rear axle and a late model ford V-6... I wanted to ****ing cry.

Where do I go for the real stuff?! And don't say the states, because the military has me locked into the UK for 3 more years!

I've thought about bringing my 53 over here, but it won't fit in the goofy little garages I see around here, and I've already caught neiborhood hoodlums ****ing with my 66 Buick, so I am nervous about the idea...

I guess I would just like to meet some guys over here that are into this old car **** like I am.

And I dig your wheels by the way

Man, thanks for the great info... I have been to Santa Pod, but I thnk it was on Jap night or something... I guess it's just a matter of showing up for the right events like anything else.

I stumbled upon a rag called "Cl***ic American" that I ***ume is published over here. It had a happenings listing, so for now I've just got to get some wheels MOT'd and hit the highway.

By the way -- Will I have to do a light conversion on my 66 Buick to get the MOT? I've heard people say that it is right around the cuttoff year.

I have no idea what this means. Just further proof that the US and GB are two great countries divided by a common language! :D Welcome from a fellow newbster!

  19. Hi Kustom,I won.t say too much about British car mags, but Custom Car and American Car World will get you to some of the better events, then its word of mouth!!Your not a million miles from North Weald that do run what ya brungs. No heavy hitters but help the hotrod withdrawal symptoms.Santa Pod do Gary.s Picnic and an all Mopar meet between 27-29 July.I,ll check back here, make sure your catching them.Chelsea cruise (I Think) last Saturday of Month.Your car would be killer there but beware of overheating and cameras ready to fine you for existing! Back to the Buick,M.O.T.s have gone ballistic and you need to choose carefully. Some of these guys are right jobsworths.I,ve got a 66 Stang,I had to go through the llight change fiasco..........nobheads!!Good luck buddy, see you on the street!
